Sparring/training with a nose injury

wondering if I can pick up any tips here. basically my nose was damaged years ago and was a bit wonky after that, so one nostril was a bit wider and the other a bit narrower. any time I got a cold or whatever, left nostril was always much more of a problem to clear than right nostril, for example, as there's simply that bit more 'room' for the right.
since I've been sparring for the past couple of months the problem's got worse. there's a pretty clear misalignment, plus there's swelling on the left nostril side of the septum. I have got semi-permanent snot/blockage at the top of my left nostril and I'm semi-permanently breathing through one nostril. wearing the gumshield is difficult at the best of times as within a minute or so, at best I'm breathing through one nostril, and more than half the time no nostril at all and I'm a fvcking mouthbreather. which I hate.
anyways my trainer reckons medium-long term i may have some minor problems with my sinuses and may need a trip to my friendly neighborhood Ear Nose & Throat Dep't to get it sorted.
what I'm wondering in the meantime is if anyone has any tips on how to keep the airways clearer, even if only just a bit. a couple of nights this week I've ended up mouthbreathing in my feckin sleep FFS as both nostrils were bunged up (a bit of seasonal hayfever isn't helping). I've tried Olbas Oil sticks but they don't touch the feckin sides.
so, ummm, yeah. got any handy hints?
