Should this happen, who wins?

I'd still take Froch on points even after last night. I think Froch would box sensibly and outbox Golovkin. It's one thing KO'ing Macklin, but Froch is on a different level altogether. No-one knows what GGG's power or chin would be like at 168 but I'd bet he wouldn't KO Froch. After every fight since Pascal people have said Froch is going to be KO'd but has never been close to it. There are some fighters, such as Mosely for example that I don't think can be Ko'd at their weight and I think Froch is one of them too.
I'd see Froch boxing cautiously for 6 rounds then letting his hands go over the second half where his superior stamina and work rate will give a clear 8-4 decision.

Froch's only chance is if GGG struggles coming ip in wieght.
But if GGG was as effective, strong and powerful as he did last night, i dont see froch keeping away from him as he cuts the rings down so well and i don't see froch getting away with throwing punches in bunches like he does. because GGG just looks far too powerful, if he carries the power up to 168, i don't see who lives with him.
Yes froch is a level above macklin but macklin looked several levels below golovkin last night. he's a tough durable world level fighter who has shared the ring woth a couple of good champions and never looked out of his depth. but he looked worried last night, he never had any answers to golovkin

Ward then ?
GGG might be the second coming but let's see how he does against better opposition. No point fighting Martinez, he's on his last legs.

Froch is two levels above Macklin, who over achieved in even getting the title shots he did to be honest.
I can't see why GGG would move up. He looks comfortable at middle and he can clean that division up. I think 154 could be where he makes his fortune

Macklin deserved his title shots.

Martinez is considered the main champ - ample reason for golovkin to fight him when recovered.
that said, i'd love to see froch v golovkin. a fight that'd really deliver the action. froch is able to take world class punishment and come back strong. he has height and reach over golovkin. he'd have to fight as he did vs Abraham, a perfect long range fight...AND then some, because golovkin is skilled enough to get inside.
froch is a gladiator, he's been in some of the great 168-pound fights, and golovkin is earning more and more Tyson and chavez comparisons each time he fights. this would be brilliant.
fantasy british boxing scenario. golovkin beats ward, and then froch beats golovkin.

In your opinion. Quite possibly in mine too. Still, the point I was making is that I think he overachieved in even reaching that standard. He is considerably below Froch's level.
Nobody said anything about him being deserving of his title shots.

To me Golovkin is a natural 154 lb fighter fighting at middleweight. The same as Martinez really. He isnt that big of a guy and 168 seems too big a weight class for him IMO. However saying that, he's still probably good enough to compete with those guys even at a size disadvantage. Very talented guy and very good at cutting off the ring.

Golovkin is a marvel at middleweight - a historic weight division; he should box the others champs and reign long; moving up in weight for the sake of a challenge is OK for some but not for most. Golovkin hits pin point and very hard with technique, on a punch power meter though I'd put Groves right hand over Golovkins'. Froch is a tough tough man (it's in the genes Teddy) but still has work to do in his own division.

just 'cos some of these Russian fellas are stocky and compact doesn't mean they should be dropping a weight.

He isnt that stocky though. Macklin is a stocky guy id say. Golovkin isnt really.

GGG is not in Frochs radar. Froch wants ward or Kessler then maybe Hopkins then retire. Why should he fight this guy? He's nothing to prove vs him.

I agree in the sense that it's lose-lose really. If you win you've beaten a middleweight and vice versa if you lose! Saying that though, I think the fight could happen if HBO put up a big amount of TV money for it.

Talk about people jumping on the bandwagon picking GGG to win by KO

triple g is one of 4 opponents approved by HBO, who aren't doing bidness with hopkins' promoters anymore, golden boy. and froch says he's not interested in light heavyweight. the only light heavy I could see froch fighting, at a later date, and only if he drops down, is Adonis Stevenson (currently not approved by HBO but who knows).

and if triple g gets a win over a middleweight name, destroys him, which'd encourage HBO to put money up and would get ppl excited about such an aggressive style matchup between froch and golovkin.
middleweight champs Hopkins, haggler, monzon, all had their biggest fights vs guys moving up...why not at super middle, with froch, vs the guy who is becoming the baddest man on the planet?

This is the fight I want to see. Way more appealing than a kessler rematch. This would be a war. Hope hearn makes it happen. Would prefer this over a ward rematch as well.

GGG should stay at middleweight, he has unfinished business and really should put his stamp on that weight class before entertaining Froch. The fight is obviously very appealing, i think i'd favour Froch at the moment but need to see more of Golovkin against better opposition. He should steer clear of Andre Ward and only fight him once he's established himself at 168. A fight against Alvarez is also very appealing, there's a good chance this could happen after the Mayweather fight.
I'm confident he'll beat Martinez who is there for the taking now, though it will be interesting to see how he copes with Martinez's style.
GGG has options, lots of options.

There's a hell of a lot to like about 3G
How cool was he last night?
Macklin was just a snack.

Because nobody at MW will fight GGG, barker and Murray didnt fancy it for starters. And secondly for the £££.
Id say Ward GGG is more likely as nobody wants either.
Still prefer him to become a legend at 160. How about Trout or Cotto at 160?

Alvarez fights on showtime though and Golovkin has an exclusive deal with HBO by all accounts. The tv deals in boxing are gonna kill a lot of potential matchups unfortunately.

Surely thats a great reason to fight him and get his belts.
