Licence granted, Mark is expecting to fight in August in Germany, and then again in October at Wembley Arena.

Great to see him being given the opportunity. The last thing a fighter loses is his punch and Mark has always hit damn hard. There are similarities with Foreman's comeback, a long gap after retiring fairly close to his prime. I for one am really looking forward to it.

He could deffo do somthing domestically at cruiser!

It be happier if he were fulfilled doing something else, less dangerous; he was a high level boxer and the years out can't have added much. I imagine he'll do well against modest opposition and find a step up harder than the first time around.

Same here his fight vs Gale was a barnstormer but in the past hate it when fighters do this after a huge lengthy lay off

I understand the British Board turned him down so he must have got a GBA licence (he wont be able to box on British board licensed shows)

Do the board still go and watch a sparring session before issuing a licence? Not sure how it all works.

We explained this in a recent BN. They watch a full training session which does not have to include sparring.

I dont honestly think I am qualified to answer that one. The issue is now that boxers that get turned down by the board will just get the GBA to licence them (if its not for medical reasons). However at the present time this means there are very few UK shows that the boxers can go on so it would not be a boxers preferred option.

This may well change in time. It depends on what happens in this power struggle.

He is the exception, thats why his name comes up during every senior comeback, rather than anyone referencing the tonnes of comebacks which ended exactly as expected.

I wasn't referring specifically to you but whatever the reason, Foreman ALWAYS gets mentioned when an older guy makes a comeback.

Foreman gets mentioned because Prince has been retired longer than Foreman was, the are both big punchers and both retired close to their primes.

There are similar aspects to the Terry Dunstan comeback too, I just haven't heard anyone reference them. Foreman, as I've said, gets mentioned whenever an older guy comes back.

I remember watching the Daruisz fight. Prince was in great condition, but boxing is all about levels and he was outgunned and worn down. I think Dunstan was a better fighter really. Both slightly brittle around the whiskers too. I'm sure Mark will be in great condition when he fights but I expect any punch resistance has further atrophied.

What was the reason that the British Board turned him down?

Also, I just had a look at his Twitter (http://twitter.com/markno1prince) and judging by the photos he posted this past Friday he is at least in very good cosmetic shape. I know that doesn't always mean that much when it comes to older fighters but he does look in great shape.

Hmm... Just look how James Page's comeback went, and he was in great shape too. Age plus years of not being hit in sparring takes it all away.

Going to post one more time on this. You got wadi camacho, Dawson etc prince would still be too much for these guys!!
Tony conquest & Leon Williams have had success alongside philbin these kids are not on princes level!! Not saying he will become a world champion but he will ping these kids!

Mark hasn't been sparring for donkeys years. His recent sparring session with Nathan Cleverley was his first in an age.

Exactly a huge gap in time badly effects punch resistance as the body is no longer used to the abuse. I think he would be wiser to take up a non-contact sport and let it go! Lol
