Wasn't he one of the Crewmen on 'The Irish Rover'? - maybe that was Slugger O'Toole tho. Just remember McGurk being scared stiff of work, and O'toole being drunk as a rule. Didn't really know them that well TBH. ;;-)

No not that slugger, but thanks for the reply. This expression goes back many years ever since I was a child over 60 years ago and I am quite sure much longer than that. Thanks again...
