Kenny Anderson

Anyone know if he's coming back? I know he went on a break due to personal reasons but he's not the youngest so he cant really afford to be out too long. Would love to see him and Smigga go at it.
I dont rate him at all i think his punches are slow. Defense and footwork arent great. I think the only reason anyone took any real notice of him is because he had groves down and nearly out. He hasnt progressed from there hes got worse if they were to box again Groves would do a number on him and earlycolumbo wrote:Anyone know if he's coming back? Oh dont get me wrong, I dont think he's going to progress beyond domestic and maybe european level if he's lucky. Like you I think he looks slow and very rigid when he throws punches and he's too easy to hit. Saying that though, I think he's a seriously tough guy. I remember watching him against Groves and some of the punches that were just bouncing off his head without him really blinking were huge shots! Whenever you see people talking about having sparred with him, they tend to say he's tougher to deal with than he looks on tape. He can also punch a bit. I think he'd give Smith a good and tough fight.smiling assassin wrote:I dont rate him at all i think his punches are slow. Defense and footwork arent great. And he knocked his hat off at the weigh insmiling assassin wrote:columbo wrote:I think the only reason anyone took any real notice of him is because he had groves down and nearly out.
Anderson looked awful against Reid. I think part of that though was because he tried to box rather than his usual come forward style. He isnt a guy that is good at boxing at range and it showed.Horse wrote:Smith vs Anderson would be good. I'd pick Smith based on their last fights.

You would think that but ive watched a fair few of his amateur bouts from the commonwealth games but he doesnt really fight any different! He's very much a stalking/ come forward fighter which works against some fighters but not so well against slick guys who have decent chins.handsofstone wrote:He obviously does have a good boxing brain and ability as they dont give out Commonwealth Games Gold medals for nowt, but his aggressive come forward style was more suited to the pro game,i just think his pro career never really got going, its funny saying that about a former British champ but you get the drift, very stop/start throughout,he took the Groves fight at short notice and i reckon if they rematched 8-12 weeks later with Anderson having a proper training camp,i would have fancied Kenny to beat George at that point but it wasnt to be and George would beat him up pretty bad now
He was a mean looking so and so as well
Yeah maybe he,s quite 1 dimensional then, you can get away with that against some boys if you fit and young but after 30 and not living the most dedicated of lives you get found out more often than not against opposition who are there to win,but i will say his British title win over Reid was the worst id seen him probablycolumbo wrote:You would think that but ive watched a fair few of his amateur bouts from the commonwealth games but he doesnt really fight any different! Here's a link to his commonwealth games final.... he's not quite so gung ho as he is in the pros but the style isnt that much different I think you'd agree? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtEDT9H7jQkhandsofstone wrote:Yeah maybe he,s quite 1 dimensional then, you can get away with that against some boys if you fit and young but after 30 and not living the most dedicated of lives you get found out more often than not against opposition who are there to win,but i will say his British title win over Reid was the worst id seen him probablycolumbo wrote:You would think that but ive watched a fair few of his amateur bouts from the commonwealth games but he doesnt really fight any different! Probably wouldnt be one for the purists, quite messy but could be funShadrachSimmo wrote:His performance vs Reid was awful. Who knows what he was trying yo do in that fight.
It's hard to say how good he is, a fight v Smith would surely tell where both are heading.
Oh shit that doesnt sound good.BillyTKid wrote:In boxing news it says that he may have legal proceedings started against him as he hasn't return his Lonsdale belt.
No worries matehandsofstone wrote:Cheers for the link columbo

Don't understand why a fighter would try and keep it, just suspend his license until he gives it back.BillyTKid wrote:In boxing news it says that he may have legal proceedings started against him as he hasn't return his Lonsdale belt.
