Gutted I can't get to this as some good local fighters and some very good fights like waqas v Nelson be good test to see hw good Nelson can be and kirk goodings v Asif (chubzy) very even fight tho chubzy looks a great prospect

Chubzy pulled out and never fought. Kirk fought a non local lad and won on points. Lee Mould scored an impressive 1st round stoppage.
Nelson got the Northern Area Title with a hard fought 10 rounds points win over Waqas. Waqas could've won if only he had power in his shots. He was game throughout and had some sweet combos but could never hurt Nelson.
Best fight by far though was the local derby between Andrew Buchanan and Johnson McClumpa. An absolute barnstormer and worth catching on youtube when it comes out. Hopefully they'll do it again.

Goodings fought Dean Mills and actually scored a stoppage (can't remember what round). He dropped him with a left hook to the body followed by a right to the head. He put the pressure on straight after the knockdown and pummelled Mills who was trapped against the ropes till the referee had to intervene.
I felt for Waqas, plenty of heart, bottle and energy but as you say just couldn't hurt Nelson. In truth there's probably about 2 natural weight classes between the men, Nelson is a msssive Super-Fly while Waqas could probably do Light-Fly if we had a Flight-Flyweight division in this country. Nevertheless he's only 21 and has plenty of time to fill out, increase his power and come again.

McClumpa and Buchanan was a cracker alright. Personally I thought Buchanan won it 58-56, but I can see the case being made for a draw. I think McClumpa having a big support there probably made a big difference, without that (and them cheering any half decent shot he landed) I think the referee would likely have seen it Buchanan's way. The ref scored it 58-58 btw, so 2 rounds a piece with 2 even.
Overall it was a a pretty good card, the Stadium of Light is a grand venue for boxing. First time I'd been to it, but worked quite well.

Sounds good, what was Peter cope like? Heard he won, he has great skills and a cracking fan base

Fantastic fanbase alright, he easily had the biggest support there. He has some nice moves about him, but he's far too easy to hit and doesn't seem like a puncher to me. If I'm honest, based on that performance he won't reach English title level without MAJOR improvement.

I agree fella, I had Buchanan the winner by one round. He was troubled regularly by Johnson's jab in the first two rounds but for some reason Johnson stopped throwing it. Also Buchanan showed some excellent skills under heavy fire. Johnson was the physically stronger and took the centre of the ring, pushing the fight but Buchanan had some seriously lovely counter combos off the back foot and caught Johnson laterally enough for me to give him the nod. I'd definitely love to see a rematch but to be honest on that showing they're both good enough to go higher and maybe meet further down the line for a domestic title.
You were right about Goodings! Forgot that stoppage. Mills pushed back hard throughout and I thought it was gonna be close but he folded under Kirk's pressure and was a good stoppage.

was a close fight but I had it for mcclumpha he wobbled him in the last round and if Buchanan hadn't lost his gum shield who knows.
hope there's a rematch if Buchanan makes the weight.
