jaysus, I thought there would be a little more interest and opinion on this one to be honest (apart from our friend the troll!)

Twil be a decent oul scrap like!

It probably will be a good fight but few will see it because it's not televised, which probably explains the lack of interest. I think O'Kane will edge out a close one, he's the better boxer of the two.

Yeah you are probably right but there are decent odds on Fitzer winning.

Talking off odd there are a few gambles to be had on that bill. Phil Sutcliffe Jnr is 1/2 to stop his opponent in their 8 round contest. I’d say that is nailed on. And if you like a bit of value then Peter McDonagh is 10/1 to win on points against the untested Patrick Murphy.

Might stick a couple of quid on McDonagh, always comes to fight and is capable of an upset.

Been a big gamble on McDonagh, quite fancy him at that price having watched a bit of Murphy on you tube, Eamon Magee sounds confident in McDonagh he thinks he stops the favourite.

And why should it evoke any interest? The last fight was easily the worse EVER in Prizefighter (and that's saying something) so the prospect of a whole ten rounds between these two is truly horrific.

The so called title on offer is virtually worthless, there are less than a dozen fighters eligible for it, and every time it's contested it's vacant.

I think their first fight was a very exciting clash. Not much technical skill but plenty of 'blood and guts' and over 10 rounds I think it will be even better.

But you are right, British fans know very little about boxing unless it is right under their noses and will be getting highly excited over Saunders-Ryder!

With respect the last fight was dreadful, as neither of them can crack an egg (to use cliche) it will almost certainly (painfully) go the full ten rounds, if they fight like they did last time they will be fecked by the fifth and the last half of the fight will be grotesque maul.

Let's not make this an Irish/British thing this is a 'local' fight of 'local' interest. And being brutal both Saunders and Ryder would be capable of flattening these two gimps on the same night (before you accuse me of British bias, I'm a Scot) and whatever you think the British title if of much greater value than the Irish.

While I respect that the British title is typically fought at a higher standard to most Irish title fights, it's imo extremely disrespectful to describe a national title as a 'so called title' or 'virtually worthless' title. I have great respect for the British title, but for me as an Irishman 1 Irish title would mean more to me than 10 Londsdale belts. While you mightn't think much of the Irish title, winning the belt can get a fighter ranked in both the EU and EBU rankings, and defending the belt will move a fighter up those rankings (or into them if they weren't previously ranked), so therefore even from an objective look at things the belt can hardly be described as 'worthless'

Now does this fight have great relevance in Britain ?, nope, very little. But it is certainly more than a local fight in Ireland. Yes there isn't widespread coverage in the news up and down the country, but it has been something of major interest for boxing fans around the country since the card was announced. That's more than a local issue, we've got a guy who won Commonwealth Gold as an amateur, and in his short 10 fight pro career won a prizefighter event which was live on Sky and fought in a British title eliminator.
In the opposite corner facing him is a man not too long ago rated in the WBA's top 10, who holds victories over Affif Belghecham (who if you remember gave Darren Barker a very close fight), and Alex Ribchev, just after Ribchev beat Matthew Hall, he also was involved in some of the most exciting domestic fights seen in Ireland in a long, long time against Robbie Long, and not too long ago he pushed former World title contender Andy Lee close, and gave him a real hard fight.

Too add spice to the issue, this is a rematch from prizefighter, and despite your opinion of it being an awful fight (okay technically it was very scrappy), the majority of people I saw comment on it thought it was a humdinger and would of liked to see it over 10 rounds. So I have to say your description of this as a local fight to me is way off the mark.
