Sorry if this has been discussed already - did anyone get the impression Fury was nervy and lacking confidence during the face off portion of the press conference with Haye, or is it just me?

Fury's manner was incredibly bizarre, his body language seemed to scream fear, and this whole hiding behind sunglasses business recalls Julius Francis prior to Tyson and Audley Harrison prior to Haye, both of whom also seemed keen to hide their eyes and mask their fear. I know Fury tried draw attention to this and even joked about it but it didn't seem wholly convincing.

Perhaps Fury was acting but I personally don't think he's good enough an actor or intelligent to pull something like this off. Smelt like high terror to me.

Would be interested to hear your esteemed gentleman's opinions.

I agree, he was shitting himself although I think by fight time he ll be up for it, could work to his advantage

Yep, fear is perfectly natural, particularly when facing a puncher, and after all the talking he's been doing, but . . . that looked an Audley-type fear to me, a sort of reality swooping down epiphany where he's realising this is real now and knows he is out of his depth.

Yeah it looked like a bit of the double bluff from Fury,pretending to be scared although i thought Haye looked quite uncomfortable also,or its maybe the good guy persona he seems to be creating since his stint in the Jungle but its not like him to remain quiet when someones goading him :?? or it could just be that Haye being the master when it comes to selling a fight,good guy/villian etc has just thought "ah well i suppose if he,s acting like this i,ll be the goodie"

Tyson knows deep down that he is out of his depth with Haye. The only chance that Tyson has of beating Haye is to catch him with a shot or Keep him at distance with the jab. The first one is a possibilty, but a slight one and Tyson doesn't have the technical ability to keep Haye at bay for 12 rounds. Tyson doesn't have much going for him other than being a big guy who has a decent punch and has some heart. He is sluggish, wide open for counter shots, has no defence, doesn't have much ring craft, is clumsy putting his punches togther and has been dropped by oppoents with no power. Tyson knows all this aswell as Haye knows this, so his only remaining tactic is to try and front it out and unsettle Haye. On this fight, Tyson's mouth is writing a cheque his fists can't cash. He will be stopped within six rounds imo.

No. HOWEVER, I do think Peter Fury was the voice of reason which brought everything back down to earth at the press conference when he said "this will be a much harder fight for both men than thought" and he threw in this tid bit "If Tyson doesnt listen, then he doesnt listen..." implying if Tyson deviates from the game plan he will lose. After that Tyson settled down a bit.

I thought Peter Fury was a top bloke. Everything he said was true and measured.

No. He was playing games plain and simple

I agree with Quixall Peter Fury seems very down to earth and talks a lot sense.

Peter is genuinely a decent guy and answers 99% of questions from fans on Twitter, even ones against Team Fury and is always extremely respectful and knowledgeable.

I also sensed a bit of fear in Fury, the bravado was a cover up, a double bluff as mentioned above. He bricked it at the face off, i thought that was hilarious, al that smack talk then him bottling a stare down.

Haye himself has since gone on record saying he could see Fury's palms were sweating and his body language was jittery.

Fury wont allow himself to think too much about losing, but deep down i'm sure he knows its a serious possibility here. It was interesting to hear him talking about losing this fight during the press conference, that was another show of doubt from the big man IMO.

It's now transpired that there was a bright green turd underneath Tyson Fury's chair when he got up to do the head to head.

I think haye is very confident in his power & fancies his chances of exploiting furys sloppiness.i think haye is a little un nerved the fact he knows fury can go in the trenches & is comftable there,if he don't connect & tires.
Don't like how haye thinks he's still some sort of world champion

As I said on another post he was bricking it. Up until then I thought Tyson had a real chance but having seen the head to head its Haye all the way.

I sensed a bit of nervous energy on the ringside show, Tyson may need this to bring out the best of him but if he thinks his weight is a big advantage his going to be horribly shocked

Haye definitely noticed Fury being jittery and seemed a little unnerved by Fury's unpredictability, when he stood to do the stare down and Fury started messing around Haye passed what looked like his mobile to security as if he thought something was about to jump off

just caught up with ringside. Fury noticeably unsettled, nervous, not in control, unsure what word he is going to say next. Clearly nervous, call it scared? maybe, but definitely nervous.

but more importantly, what the hell was fury wearing? Who is dressing him?? if no-one, then I recommend someone starts!!

sorry I can't see this I don't think Fury is scared of anyone even if Haye knocks him out he won't be scared of him -Fury is a million miles from Audley and his ilk and is a brave fighting man albeit one not possesse of the silky skills that Haye has at his best.

I noticed he has done that a few times. BBC reported him as saying "If David can beat me then congratulations to him, he will have put me out of my misery and there will be no hard feelings at all.", that comes immediately after/before talk of disposing of the Klitschkos after he beats Haye. His big talk is laced by comments demonstrating his fear that this will all go pear shaped.

Although since the press conference I have grown somewhat fonder of Tyson, he's definitely making this an entertaining build up, whether the fight matches it or not I'm not so sure. He's a game, live opponent but I think Haye taking on the 'straight man' role took him by surprise as I think he expected him to take on the same old confident, opinionated persona at the press conference that we have seen before. But Haye's seriousness and reluctance to fool around at the press conference opened Tyson's eyes a little.

The bottom line though, I don't think Tyson is frightened of Haye as such. His fear comes from what will happen if he is beaten by Haye. He's said an awful lot about this fight, a and is setting himself up for a pretty big fall; that is, IF he loses.

I personally felt by the body language that Fury looked nervous... he has certain patter that is scripted ..but go off topic and fury can tend to look like young lad with EDHD.... an example of this would be when Fury was asked to look haye in the eye and he said "no he scares me"... They do say that 'many a true word is said in jest'

IMO Fury is just starting to realize the gravity of the situation

However its all hearsay he might just be nervous being interviewed who knows ... dont think hel have much reflection on the fight haye with a stoppage after 4 rounds

I thought Fury did have a lot of nerves, Haye in comparison seemed cool, calm, and collected. I don't think Fury is scared, he has signed for this and called out everybody else. He'd have to fight someone in that category eventually. However, I think he knows its shit or bust time, and I think thats the root cause of the nerves. I'm even more certain Haye will punch through him though.

I think the nerves are more to do with the magnitude of the event rather than the man in front of him.
