Hearn said in the post fight interview that brook will be fighting a big name in sheffield in september.

Shane Mosley? Paulie malignaggi?

Berto is another name you could throw in there, I read they tried to get Mosley but he priced himself out.

I'd love to see him fight someone like Berto. What about Victor Ortiz?

I reckon it's Senchenko. Former world champ, still got a good ranking and sells to casuals as The Hatton destroyer. Brook takes him apart as well. If not any of Maidana,Malinaggi, Mosely, Ortiz, Berto.

I think it's going to be IBO Welterweight Champion Chris van Heerden. His last fight was against Matthew Hatton which was televised here via allegedly. Van Heerden was on The Bunce Boxing Hour about 6 weeks ago. At the time he suggested he had been in talks with Matchroom to come over to Belfast in September to face Paul McCloskey. Van Heerden showed a desire to fight in front of the British fans.

I think Brook has the style to beat van Heerden. Whilst the IBO title is lightly regarded, it would help get the monkey off Kells back that he can't mix it at world level, or the suggestion he'll never take a world title.

Van Heedren is not a big name though. He's fine for Mccloskey, not for Brook at this stage

Brook is a very strong and powerful welter; he would most likely beat Van Heerden who seems straightforward. I think Maidana would bust him (Kell) up bad though and the other welter champs are mobile, tricky and excellent in just about every way. Carson wasn't at the races last night and Brook was all over him; with the best will in the world - Kell will not be able to do the same v any (real) top rated welter or light middle (though I've been wrong before).

I agree with your thoughts. That's why in my mind van Heerden is Brooks best chance to take a world title at Welterweight. Brook could then move up in weight class stating his next goal is to be a 2 weight world champion. If Brook leaves Welterweight without claiming a belt, he'll be accused of ducking fights and not being good enough to take a world title.

Though Van Heerde has a recognised belt he's not really seen as being a 'proper bone fide world champion; in a division paced with excellent boxers and ferocious punchers he would seem to be the easiest man to beat; some of the people that post on here know Brook and his camp very well and they have said that he really wants to have the recognition of a world champ. I don't know them personally but reckon they'd agree that to be recognised the best then a boxer has to defeat the best - not the 'easiest' of the belt holders. In any case we'll see what happens next - I hope he's more active now and gets a run of good luck; if he has another year like last year it'll be no good for him (or us).

If it's not Van Heerden then I'd love to see Brook in against Provodnikov, Abregu or Maidana. An impressive win against any of these 3 would surely grab the attention of the major belt holders in the division. Guys like Mosley, Bailey and Senchenko don't excite me at all.

He's not a proper world champion though Van Heerden. He holds the IBO belt. It doesnt really mean shit.

I am merry on sun and lager Keith and I typed that Saoul Mamby is still boxing but didn't want to be a pudendum; Brook looked well last night and can cope with some of the very good welters but not the very top men in my highly esteemed opinion :OhYes:

Great shout there. I imagine they're both struggling with the weight so it can be another catchweight bout. Duran weighing in about 16 stone......
