Wow, just looked at his record as wondered what he was upto as I'd not heard anything for a bit. What's gone wrong? From fringe title contender to journeyman in 1 year?! I know he's by no means been in with mugs, but that's a harsh turnaround in fortunes, lost 11 on the bounce now.

Told me it's the way the game is, has been seen off a few times with dodgy decisions and will be knocking it on the head soon anyway.

He's probably realised he's getting less hassle and more work now.

X 3 that. Being a winning fighter is nothing but a pain in the arse , selling tickets is hard work.stressful also. I do know this believe it or not , unless I was a world beater , sod that.

Sad indictment of the boxing world if that's the case.

Max has got his trainers licence and is retiring at the end of the year. When max won or caused an upset it was because he trained very very hard and fought like a man possesed now hes going at 70 80 percent and that little differnce makes a big differnece when yr whole style is based on pressure and grinding someone down. Its hard to be totally motivated when yr already planning yr next career(trainer)

Also worth noting most people had him beating steven horvath and the actual show promoter had him beating kresnik quato (we had him losing by a round personally) and the two refs gave him one round between them in both over the curse of both fights.Max actualy said to me its my last year your pushing me to fight like mad and thats what the refs do anyway.why are you bothering?

What do i say to that?

Yeh fair play, I can understand how disheartening it must be, to fight your heart out, take it close and get robbed by refs time and again. As I said, it's just a sad indictment of the sport of boxing, it's not fair and yet we all just take it as part and parcel. Something needs to change.

Tell you what, Max always provided great sparring for Ryan.
Could move up and down the weights as well.

Yeh hes coming on board with us at the gym as well as being a former navy PT hes one of the most honest hardworking blokes you could meet.Hes going to be our conditioning guy.Iv been encouraging him to retire since the Nav Mansouri fight as hes had a long hard career and he deserves to be on the safe side of the ropes.
Hoping i will be able to get his last fight on of our home shows so he can go out with a winning performance.

He probably makes a lot more money losing fights than he did training for and beating Rose.
