Great fight, looking forward to it but no way does this meet the Barry Hearn criteria "the fight doesn't happen unless it ppv" as he stated in one of kugans interviews. Its not like its 2 established fighters like froch/Kessler as groves is up and coming/unproven at world level and im pretty sure hes never had a million pound plus purse like Kessler/froch. IMO this fight could defo be made without ppv.

I don't think it will be. Think Eddie himself said he didn't think it was a PPV fight in his Q&A thingy with Kugan.

Would be a hard sell.

Pretty sure it is PPV. When Froch and Groves were on sky sports news today, Froch said to Groves I hope you come and fight and Groves something along the lines of why do I need to conform to one particular style and Froch said because it's on sky tv and PPV.

Froch really does piss me off with all his come and fight bullshit, he just doesn't like it when opponents move and don't get into a tear up with him.

It doesn't fit hearns PPV criteria so it shouldn't be PPV. Froch has probably just assumed because his last fight was this one will be. Realistically the Bute fight was bigger so you can't put this PPV with Groves standing. Had he took a belt of Steiglitz of Bika 1st you could of had an arguement. Not now though

Also Froch vs Golovkin if it happened would be PPV aswell.

It will be. Froch mentioned it live on air! GOmez will point to the fact DeGale- Groves was so this is a natural. Most of Carl's elite career have been PPV. Bute was essentially a loss leader that paid off handsomely.

It will probably have a great undercard and will be PPV, he thought Bellew v Cleverly 2 was, so surely this is?

This is a mandatory defence though so unless Froch wants to give up his title then he doesn't have a choice but fight him. And as Groves doesn't want to side step this then it should be a straight forward fight to make without the need for PPV money (obviously they want to make as much as possible though).

Gareth Davies is in the Telegraph today saying its likely to be on Sky Sports but may become Box Office if they can stack the undercard. Following the interview yesterday on sky sports news they did say watch it on sky sports (ie not box office). Will just have to wait and see I guess.

I saw that but the bit immediately after the presenter referred to it being on sky sports. I'm not sure it's actually been decided yet. Appreciate Froch said PPV but I wonder if he's just assuming.

The Dirrell fight (i.e. start of the Super Six) was the launch fight for Primetime. Froch-Taylor, remarkably, wasn't shown live on UK TV. The best we had were highlights on ITV.

I'm sure Carl doesn't make those decisions. My thinking is, if this was PPV, why would Eddie have dismissed it as probably not PPV worthy in his last interview? Bit counter productive.

I noticed they said it's on SKy Sports HD. i.e. they weren't committing to a channel yet, so I guess that leaves things open to either.

Froch-Taylor did have a very last minute PPV online stream over here I think.

I WILL be shelling out for this and Haye v Fury but don't mind too much as I cancelled Sky Sports in mid 2012 and have felt vindicated by what boxing they have shown this year.

Im not saying it's his decision but im sure Carl would have a pretty good idea what platform it's going to be on. Also would Froch be willing to fight Groves for relative peanuts at this stage of his career when he doesnt get much from beating Groves who people expect him to beat?

I hope it's not PPV, the fewer of those the better to my pockets way of thinking.

You are right. It was £10.00 to watch the stream. BBC 5 Live covered the fight on radio with the whole fight being replayed on ITV the following night in annoying 4:3 format. I know 'cause I just watched it again about 2 days ago.

That was only ppv as a promoted undercard salvage job at last minute. Clev was headlining and saw several opponents fall away in the build up.

Groves can't be on huge money (I would guess) as more likely hearn will tell him its about the opportunity. Only if he gets blasted out early will it knock his career. Looking good in a losing performance, or if he somehow gets the win, both obviously take his career well forward.

TBH i would be surprised if this bout wasnt PPV ... the criteria is who would be willing to pay PPV and to be fair they both have a pretty big following... and like Columbo suggested Eddie is entitled to slice of the cake... does anyone know who they expect the undercard is yet?
