Much interest in the fight over in the uk? I haven't seen a lot of discussion about it at all anywhere really?

I dont think the august date helps, but ringside have had a couple of features on it and I'm sure sky sports news will advertise it a lot more a few days before it happens ! I'm really looking forward to it, barker looked very impressive last time out and I think this is the best chance he will ever get to be world champion, I'm going with barker on a late stoppage or unanimous decision

It doesn't seem to have got much hype but I guess now its not too far off we will start seeing a bit more. I've read a few of Barkers blogs and as you'd expect what comes across is how up for the opportunity he is.

I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm not that bothered about it to be frank. I can't class Barker as a champion even if he wins. Not after the way the fight with Martinez ended and the fact GGG would walk straight through him. I don't even really want him to win, if only to be spared a crappy 'stacked' homecoming and 12 months of Ringside and Kugan kissing his arse until someone decent takes his title off him.

I look forward to coming back from seeing Cleverly retain his title then watch Barker win a world title and I'll be getting money while I'm doing it.

X2 ... I dont really begrudge him winning but the excessive hype and spin that will surround it will drive me nuts.

Can't see Barker doing it personally. The way he folded in the end to Martinez was worrying, especially when you look at Martin Murray's performance vs Martinez where imho he won the fight.

Geale has been fighting at world level, Barker has fought Kerry Hope and the 37 year old Rotolo since the loss to Martinez, so I feel the hype they have been trying to build with Barker is a little false. Typical Brit/Hearn fighter-bumming by Sky.

Best thing that could happen would be Barker, Murray, Macklin all just fight each other now.

Hope Barker gets the nod at the finish line, I believe he will becasue I don't know if he can KO Geagle as he is a tough bastard, certainly Darren isn't getting knocked out

I think Barker winning the tittle makes the British showdowns more realistic to happen. Bring it home Dazza.

I think Geale will win and Barker will retire.

I think Geale and Barker are on a similar level and it should be a close fight.

Worse champions than Barker have walked around at middleweight with a title around their waist.

But perhaps I'm biased because I like Darren Barker.

Barker is a decent fighter. I think as fans though you get sick of seeing guys who are decent but not truely world champion material being world champions. That's clearly the result of all the different governing bodies though.

Really this is last chance saloon for Barker, if he loses this it will be a long road back to a world title fight unless Golovkin needs fresh meat.

Not just a long road back but the competition is even tougher. I think Geale is the weakest of the world champions and I think Hearn thinks the same, hence why they went after this fight.

this is a 12 round fight if ever I have seen one, so apart from anything else there's a chance of Barker's oft-injured body breaking down, surely?

true, but why are we willing to swallow it with froch and khan, but not with barker? barker went in with martinez first, so arguably, had to deal with the best version. and dont be so sure that barker couldnt cope with GGG.....hes quite a skilled boxer, and now has the experience of going in with the best and performing well.

true, but why are we willing to swallow it with froch and khan, but not with barker? barker went in with martinez first, so arguably, had to deal with the best version. and dont be so sure that barker couldnt cope with GGG.....hes quite a skilled boxer, and now has the experience of going in with the best and performing well.

I think comparing Froch and Barker is a little unfair to be honest. Froch whilst falling short against the top guy in the division in Ward, he's also fought pretty much everyone! Kessler twice, Abraham, Dirrell, Pascal, Taylor and beaten all of those guys. Super middleweight is a tougher division I think aswell. Barker hasnt fought anyone aside from Martinez.

as formlines go, managing to last 11 rounds with Martinez before giving up, doesn't really match up, does it? we're being asked to 'swallow' waaaaay more in terms of Barker's 'credentials', IMO

X2 ..... even Khan lost to arguably the number 1 guy in the division in Garcia and the Peterson fight was a toss up really.

ggg would destroy all of these fighters so in my opinion they are only pretenders

Good fight this. Should be a busy bit of boxing and Barker could surprise Geale early on if he comes out the traps aggressively.
