Substance other than adrenaline!!

Would really like some opinions on this please, I know there are some extremely knowledgeable posters on here, focus on ends of rounds 2 (17.50) 4 (24.27) 5 (28.42) 6 (36.02) 8 (40.23). There is something used that is clearly NOT 1:1000 adrenaline, it's some sort of paste, yellow in colour, comes out of a pot in the promoters hands!!!! I'm amazed that more fuss has not been kicked up about this as clearly something is not as it should be, we ain't talking about a 4 round undercard fight here either this is a European Title fight for christs sake!! Doesn't seem to be an EBU representative in the corner between rounds either which was also very strange to say the least! If SOMEONE knows WHAT is being used on DiRoccos cut could you please enlighten me as I'm stumped!!!! Thanks peeps :-)

Just pulled this from the EBU website. So effectively DiRocco CHEATED in a European Title fight and got away with it!! Poor Lenny Daws, a model pro if ever there was one, cheated out of a major title!!

Article 22 - Medical Safeguards
22.1 The use of any drug or other substance prohibited by the EBU howsoever administered, is strictly forbidden. The list of prohibited substances will always accord with the list of substances prohibited by the WADA. Cold water is the only permitted stimulant. The Chief Medical Officer appointed for the contest or the relevant National Federation shall supply adrenaline and if any other substance is used on or administered to a Boxer other than white vaseline the Boxer shall be disqualified.

22.1.3 Haemostatic. The only haemostatic authorized is adrenaline 1/1000 and must be supplied by the Chief Medical Officer appointed for the contest or the relevant National Federation.

That was hardly the bad decision some claimed it was, though the possible use of banned substances in another matter.

Were you a medic in the army MM or is that standard material for a soldier?

I wasn't a medic by trade. All soldiers do basic first aid training but there are more advanced courses you can be loaded on, irrespective of your cap badge, if there is a requirement.
Ah ok :TU:

There was a fight with Conteh, where the other corner guy used some sort of cement/glue-like paste to heal a cut. Can't remember which one, sorry, but think it was one of the MSM fights. I know Francis protested it.

Nacho used what looked like a mini-tampon once on a cut on Marquez.

Really surprised that the BBBofC / EBU have not pushed harder for Lenny when clearly there is something amiss!!

Frank, thanks for putting this up, in a previous post I put up interviews Lenny and Myself did with James Helder regarding the "substance" I emailed Robert Smith at the Board several times and although he was helpful he was unable to find out what the substance was, but I was told by Robert the EBU doctor said the solution was alright to use, I pursued the matter about what the substance was in several emails to Robert but had no luck about what was used or any luck with a rematch.
I've watched the fight several times and still have Lenny winning by two rounds, as a lot of Di Rocco's punches landed on Lenny's gloves and Lenny's punches were cleaner, whilst some may disagree with me regarding the result the fact that the fight was close and the fact that an illegal substance was used surely warrants the rematch, as I said in the interview I bear no ill will to Di Rocco at all, but we knew we weren't going to win on points in Italy, so we only had two avenues to win, stoppage by cuts or referee's intervention or knockout, and one of those avenues was taken away from us by foul play.

Can legal action be taken?
As a professional its cost the Daws team massively financially I should imagine future earnings.
If foul play is proven and the governing bodies are doing nowt what do you do.
Are there any cases of legal action before?
I know its a shady game but has to be a process to follow if there is proof surely.
Imagine if it was team Khan we would be in the middle of ''Glue gate'' right now.
Good luck Lenny if you can pursue it.

How can that be ok to use? As the rules say above, water is the only cold stimulant allowed, 1/1000 adrenaline is also allowed and if a substance other than white Vaseline is used then the fighter is disqualified.

The rules only apply if you have someone there with enough weight/authority to enforce them; it is dodgy but Italy is a dodgy country, strange things happen, short rounds the lot

Appreciate your point palooka, we had a BBBofC official there, but he was too far away to see it, but with the video evidence which the Board had the week after the fight and with the even clearer Youtube coverage something should be able to be done.

lets not get too excited. As a medical guy I know that most 'surgical' glue is clear or purple in colour, certainly not yellow. the substance to me looks like it could be 'ysp or yellow soft paraffin' which is a type of Vaseline. this makes the substance legal.

Impossible to prove otherwise unless it was analysed at the time I am afraid.

Even if it's a form of Vaseline, it's still not allowed, as the rules state above, only white Vaseline is allowed.

If its Vaseline his corner want sacking. I'd take a punt on it being illegal as it was being administered on a swab the same way adrenaline is put "into" a cut. You don't put Vaseline into a cut (it can cause untold problems and won't allow the cut to heal correctly unless the doctor/medic cleans it out thoroughly before stitching) you should only use it to seal the cut by wiping it over the top.
