Really enjoyed the book a few years back.

Sadly the film does not do it justice.

I'm always perplexed as to whether or not he actually "did it". Unfortunately I believe he probably was more involved in it than he'd like us to believe.

Yeah I've seen plenty articles and statements that still have him down as guilty.

There's 3 sides to this story, Carters, the prosecutions and the truth.

this is only tour to the uk ???? hes been here a cpl of times ! he come over in 2005 and 2009,went all over the country and to liverpool to meet harry scott. so hes blagging you if hes saying hes never been here on a dinner tour !

He was doing the memorabilia fayre at The NEC a few years ago.

I think you're misinterpreting what Dan is saying.
I think he was meaning Rubin's visit this time will be the only one this year and most certainly his last.

A non boxing fan i work with has read his book and he believes he done it and the film potrays him as a much more likeable person than he really is,not that thats any shock

Carter got off the same way OJ Simpson did, because they simply did not have enough evidence to prove he did not do it, so they turned it into a case of racial profiling. The moment Carter got released, he left America and went to Canada. Mind you, this is a man who was offered point blank four times a deal almost no one would have refused: pass a lie detector test, and you will be out of prison. He turned it down each and every time. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me considering lie detectors are not even admissable in court.

Anyway, Carter was a pretty average fighter that's for sure

He's done off shows in the UK and been over 5 times in he's life twice to fight Harry Scott!
Like him or love him, he has stories and experiences that will make a fascinating tour, especially being John artis with him.
I was under impression. He done it before we met, but he said in a town where I was the most famous guy in it, how the hell would I over thought I'd get away with something like that, even thou he may of had something to do with it, he done 20years, he was a good fighter, average fighters don't beat emille griffiths, but could of had been better if the chance was there.
WBC recognised this a few years ago when them and the wbo awarded him honorary belts as they believed who would of went on to be champ, WBC are also recognising he's achievements on this tour with a special presentation.
If you haven't heard this guys stories from he's own lips then this will be your last chance, guilty or not, he changed the system and spent the last 20 years setting up charity companies from home working on cases of wrongful imprisoment for people.

He had his chance, he lost decisively to Joey Giardello in his lone title shot. Fact is Carter, by the time of his arrest, was no longer a top ten contender. He was on the bell end curve of his career, he was on his way out. Whatever he done in boxing, he did it. He wasn't going to become champion of the world.

In the grand scheme of things an average fighter. In the days where all time greats are forgotten about and die penniless, Carter is still touring of the back of a fictional film and time in prison for crimes he was probably guilty of. Don't turn this into one of your tiresome modern v old school debates.

Yes the Griffith result was excellent, but he was also comprehensively beaten a few times. Put him in any middleweight era up until 2000 and he is the same as he was then, decent but below the top level
