Two very leading questions. All I will say, is that Hatton, like Naz before him, is very much a home boy.
When BN phoned him up on the Monday after his fight with Pedersen, he was in the pub with his mates!

You'd think he and Graham wouldn't be too happy about it.
They always go on about cracking the American market, but it's never going to happen with such over cautious matchmaking.

Calzaghe must be pissed off too - he's in a decent fight but there's no USA coverage, because Showtime are allegedly unhappy with the all too familiar Hatton v TBA.

Overall it can't be that bad news, several times matchups have been quashed because of the old American Showtime V HBO battle, even Warren himself said the Gatti fight could not happen because of this. So if Hatton is now a free agent because of the Showtime split that should surely make potential matchups with top American fighters more viable one would think...but Boxing is a funny sport.

I think this is a good move and may motivate them to get a top class opponent for Ricky. I just hope Hattons next fight isn't against an old man like Leija. They keep saying a top ten opponent, but what top ten? The WBO's or WBU's. Calzaghes last opponent was the WBO No.1 contender and that fight was a complete waste of time. It was embarressing to see Joe fight such an outclassed opponent. It not like their is a shortage of names for Ricky too fight, its a pretty deep division and most of the guys are well known, I hope its not another mystery man.

I would have thought that Lieja is a good fight for Hatton, He is getting on a bit but is still better than Tackie and Phillips.

Debatable I think. Leija seems to turn it in pretty quick these days, he made Tszyu look a bit one-dimensional for a while, but once a few sickeners went in, he seemed to dog it.

I think Leija is too small as well, he'll get his ribs bent by a few body shots and go down.

I've got a feeling Hattons next opponent is going to be Lovemore N'Dou, as he's now rated in the Ring's top ten. Do you think Hatton will get tired of fighting Sharmba Mitchells Retreads all the time?

I don't get how Lovemore puts in a surprise performance against Mitchell and suddenly he's top ten. They have to do better than that. Leija seems like the kind of name opponent that they would get for Ricky, even though he is no longer a real threat, I just hope it doesn't happen. No more mystery men either please, or former lightweights.

Ricky needs to fight someone good, and Sharmba Mitchell is the only available light-welter I'd say is above Ricky right now. That SHOULD be the natural fight for both of them.

I agree, I think Hatton is at the stage were anything less than a top 3 opponent is a let down.

As for this fight not being shown in the states it's Calzaghe I feel sorry for as he is the one who looks to be in the most meaningfull fight on the card by far, so far.
