The British Boxing Board of Control have deemed Gavin Down to be an unacceptable opponent. The fight's off.

Yes, the Board have to be applauded for this one.
Witter needs to have a meaningful fight and soon.

Very true words guys. Besides which I've never really liked the idea of two gym mates who've spared hundreds of rounds boxing each other for real, at least not when they are still in the same stable at the time of the fight, and worse still having one Ingle do Witter's corner and another Ingle do Downs!
Is the whole show off, does anyone know?

Oh dear.
I think you could be right. Oscar is a good boxer, but very much a non-puncher. Surely his only chance is if all this chaos has completely distracted Witter.
If Michael piles on the pressure from the 1st bell he may have a remote chance of making a contest of it.

Very strange situation, I applaud the BBBoC decision (although it should have been the EBU to have done this). I can't understand the latest opponent change, its not as if there the fight with Hall is now a title fight.
Was Hall scheduled to fight?

Yes, Hall was due to fight in Darlington.

Hall was due to fight in Hartlepool. He got told on Thursday that this was off because he'd been lined up to fight Bosworth in a couple of months. He got the call yesterday lunchtime. There will be more on BBN in a couple of hours.

Cheers, Ian. I've been searching everywhere for a Darlington show after, guess who?, the BBC said he was due to fight in Darlington. Do you know who he was scheduled to fight in Hartlepool?

The only place I saw it listed was local paper the Northern Echo. It was someone who I thought 'not again'. Someone who leads with his face. Might have been Craig Lynch.
BoxRec have Oscar low down in the 20s in Britain but this isn't a fair representation in my view. OK, he got done by Gary Reid but he will readily admit he was stale and lacked focus after meeting similar standard opponents.
He gave a good account of himself against Patrick Barrett, as far as I know.
