Quick and straight to the point...

Boxer A clearly wins the round but suffers a knockdown. Is this 9-9 or 9-10 or 10-9. Also, if anyone ca point me to the rulings on this i'd be really appreciative.

I know what i think, but i want to make sure after a "discussion" at a show last night where the judge / promoter scored it a certain way, which im certain was wrong.

I think there is no clear answer , and it varies between judges. If a fighter is winning the round but suffers a clean knock down ,then personally I don't see how he can win it . And the circumstances will also effect the scoring. If a boxer is knocked down in the first few seconds but immediately takes over and for the remainder of the round batters his opponent from pillar to post I would score that 9-9. But it's really quite a complicated subject . Thankfully I'm not a judge or ref.

Think most people would score it 9-9.

Upon further reading its getting more complicated. I thought 9-9 or 10-10 if its "10 point must"?

If anyone can confirm i'd be grateful - must be a ref or more qualified judges on here?

Incidentally the round was scored 10-9 to the fighter that was knocked down.

There is no such thing as a 9-9 afaik in British boxing.

If he was only just scraping the round and got put down some judges would still score it 10-8 to the boxer who scored the knock down. Some "world" organisations demand (or used too) that if a boxer is downed it must be scored 10-8.

This is always a confusing one, I think every time on HBO Lederman goes through the rules and says something about a 10 point must system, so I've always gone along with that. So 10-9 to the guy with the KD.

I would score it 10-9 to the boxer who scored the knockdown,you cant have a fighter losing a round after puting his opponent down IMO but seeing as he was losing the round up until that point i wont make 10-8

I would normally go 10-9 to the fighter that scored the knockdown. At least one of the fighters must have 10 points. (can't do 9-9)

take Kahn/Maidana in Rd10? (off the top of my head)

Maidana spends 2:30 of that round smashing Amir to bits.... if he was then to get countered and put down i would score it 10-10.

My issue was they scored it 10-9 against the guy that scored the knockdown. Luckily he KOd his opponent in the third and final rd of the final
