Why do idiots do such things? surely they can find things to do without ruining other peoples lives
As far as I know Bob Shannon does nothing but good for the area, lets hope someone with some spare cash can step in & help out, not only Bob but the youth of the area.

That's what I foresee, sadly. It's not just boxing they hate though and it's not just Labour either. No doubt the replacement in the area will be one of those awful out of the box gyms that look the same all the way from here to Manchester, New Hampshire...the long way round.

dunno if there are any female friendly training sessions at the gym, if not it wouldn't be the worst idea. he could then play the equality side of it up and get some local councillors and council managers in for photo-shoots for the local media. it would help if he's got issues with the local council. he shouldn't have to do any of that, but its the world we live in.

Such as shame for Bob and his fighters. Genuine nice guy and done a lot for the local community and some little cunto goes and does this. I've no doubt he'll get the help he deserves to get back up and running.

Hope it works out for him, always comes across as a proper decent man. I thought Local Authorities were coming to understand the benefits of having clubs like these? Would the local MP be sympathetic to the cause?

Remember the clip in road to redemption when he was painting someone's house all then straight to the gym to train fighters I know a lot of people work and train.He is no spring chicken though no offence and it really stuck in my mind.

It's been set up in such a way that every new signature triggers an email to the council and the Lord Mayor. So it's well worth it. People have been Tweeting the official MCC Twitter account, they've not acknowledge any of them yet, but there's been some Tweets about upcoming social events so the account is active.

Good stuff twitter is weird sometimes I've not been on it long but my account froze took them an age to sort it out.
I gave it its own thread to raise the profile after I posted it on here hope you don't mind its a shame its needed at all the good a gym can do is common knowledge and it combats anti social behaviour one of the key cost's to councils.

Horrible news. Petition signed; really hope the council makes the right choice and re-opens the gym!

It could well have been the youth of the area that did it. I have never bought into the idea that boxing gyms unite communities and improve peoples moral outlook, even though they can do a lot for any area.




I hope somehow Mr Shannon can get some funding, or whatever is needed to get back on his feet

If you're getting frustrated about how much people on benefits are getting, you're either a nasty fornicator, or you're the same as them and don't realise it; i.e. you take home about the same as them each week but you're one of the 'fortunate' ones with a job. If there was enough work for everyone the wages would go up and so would the benefits for the young, sick, and retired. It's pretty simple stuff.

If i believed what i read in the papers, Sharia law is now in effect in vast swathes of the UK and British children are being force fed halal meat in schools.

Private landlord will be next I'd guess, forcing Bob to fork out for somewhere to train fighters and that won't come cheap.
