He sure showed courage against Ali.
4 KO's in 13 fights doesn't indicate hard puncher.Il Duce wrote:Friday Night - March 17, 1961

'MILDENBERGER SAVED FROM LOSS'
Highly-touted 23 year-old German Heavyweight - Karl Mildenberger was dropped to the
canvas '3-Times' by Sweden Heavyweight - Thoerner Ahsman, and Karl was on the verge
of getting knocked-out, when he grabbed the muscular Swede's left arm and twisted
it causing a dislocation.
The visiting 30 year-old 5' 11 1/2" 195 lb. Thoerner writhed in obvious pain, and with his
left arm dangling by his side, could not continue.
The German Referee then awarded a Karl Mildenberger a {TKO 4} victory despite cries of
foul from the 14,000 German fans in attendance.
Thoerner Ashman had come in from Sweden with a record of 10-1-2 {4 KO's}, and with a
reputation as a very hard puncher.
Karl Mildenberger will improve to 23-1-0 {11 KO's} with the embarrassing win.
I thought he was referring to the Swedish opponent. Maybe I misread...klompton wrote:I was referring to Mildenberger. He was not considered to have a good punch.
