Now, it was questioned on by some posters here a few months ago whether the BBC boxing coverage will fall as a result of Greg Dyke leaving and them also acquiring the Premiership football rights for next year.

Well, I was at first sceptical of the post and thought no change would happen, however my impression now is yes that post does make a lot of sense.

Look what has happend since

BBC loses Danny Williams' contract.

BBC seem to be showing less fights from America.

The last professional fight from America was shown on Sunday Grandstand a couple of weeks after the bout took place and it was so well advertise that I missed it (I don't know if they skipped rounds).

Now of course, The BBC didn't appear to advertise a European title fight which they had the rights to.

Its slowly mounting up and that post is making more sense - I only hope Nasty is correct about ITV, when Gary Newbon and Jim Rosenthal are still with them they will treat the game correct. Even in the non lasting "comeback" with Dunne, Neary, Culshaw etc at least it was live, advertised well, and presented impecably as ITV always done for boxing.

Christ those nights with Eubank, Benn, Bruno, Hamed, Robinson etc were good nights - Boxing was talked about playgrounds and it was all because of ITV's great coverage. Of course we have still got the boxers and personalities to do that and if Sky Sports was a terrestial channel attracting 15 million views to advertise during Coronation Street, then it would still be talked about in the playgrounds.

I'm just starting to really wonder if BBC are going to stick with the boxing.

yeah wondered the same thing, sky seem to be getting allmost all of the big cards noiw, but there are still some that the rights could be taken for, and BBC dont seem too keen.

I read somewhere that they have used a lot of their boxing budget on the Olympics. Maybe thats one of the reasons they are showing less.

the big wigs at the beeb decided the boxing budget would be well spent at the olympics rather than counting the olympics under its own budget.

yes, now that he's with ringside promotions.

As much as the olympics will be interesting I'd rather see some repeated world title matches on Sunday night!
