It is common knowledge but it would seem nobody cares enough to write about it.

Parodi went to the wire on points against a guy that Quigg blasted out in three rounds last month.

Wrong! The winner of Martinez v Romero has to face mandatory which is not frampton or parodi winner!

Frampton's ranked 3 and Parodi 4, with no one ranked 2nd, I'd expect the winner of this to move up to number 1. Just because a fighter is ranked 1 doesn't mean he's mandatory, Mathebula has only fought once since losing to Donaire and that wasn't an eliminator. I highly doubt Quigg will be fighting for the IBF since he's fighting Salinas for the WBA regular title on the Haye-Fury undercard.

Mathebulas last fight was a Final Eliminator so I imagine he does get the shot.

Frampton really should be asking how Kiko got a shot before he did.

Frampton said yesterday that when they approached Romero's people they were told that he had an injured bicep and would be out until September.

The winner of Romero-Martinez has to defend against Mathebula in 90 days. Frampton's fight is an eliminator to decide the next in line after that.

Don’t talk sh*te! Whilst I am not exactly getting a horn over the prospect of Parodi vs Frampton it is a solid fight after half a year out of the ring and its also the IBF’s #3 vs their #4. McGuigan has always had an eye on the IBF title and this edges him closer to a mandatory slot.

Martinez fights Martinez, then Mathabula and the winner faces Frampton should he stay unbeaten! It’s a calculated and focused decision to take this opponent. Hardly smacks of a career that’s aimlessly wandering, is it? And its the exact fight he would have had if he was still under a Matchroom contract!

Lets not forget as well that Carl has only had 16 fights as well.

quigg is fighting on the biggest night of boxing in the UK now it could of been carl

i also bet that the attendane will be down for carls next fight compared to the kiko fight

so you've just written off my argument with a "blah blah", slick!

"his career has not taken off as it should have after his win over kiko" - he's been injured! I a fan of Matchroom but have they got some magic voodoo doctors that would have spirited a new eardum cover for him?

"quigg is fighting on the biggest night of boxing in the UK now it could of been carl" - undercard, for what is essentially an eliminator for the real WBA title.

"i also bet that the attendane will be down for carls next fight compared to the kiko fight" - time will tell, Matchroom certainly do a great job of promotion but my guess is that Barry will pack the undercard with cracking fights and the attendance will actually be higher!

Can it be higher than the Martinez fight? Looked it anyway. I thought that was a sell out or can they change the arena around a bit? Genuine question

Capacity of the Odyssey is 11,000. Not sure that is obtainable with boxing however. I think 9k is the maximum for boxing. I believe that Eddie set it up for 7.5k and it did shy of 7k. If you look at the last interview I did with Eddie at the Haye-Fury presser then he says the exact figures in that. Looked full to me from my seat as well but just shows you.

That’s the guy I was thinking of, he lives in a cupboard behind John Wish’s seat. Feeds on fried plantains and has worked wonders on Barker's hip and Haye’s left hand!

That witch doctor must be good if he's managed to get Barker all the way through a training camp without getting injured.

quigg will go for unification after beating salinas and a quick defence.

This may have changed but previously WBA 'Regular' champions were not allowed fight for another organisations title if there was already a 'Super' champion in that division. This was the case as fighters who unified another organisations title to the WBA title was upgraded to 'Super' champion for doing so.

Of course this may have changed but thinking logically as Guillermo Rigondeaux is WBA Super champion and WBO champion at Super-Bantamweight, I don't think the WBA would allow a unification with the WBC or IBF for Quigg should he beat Salinas. But then again stranger things have happened.
Also things are a little more difficult knowdays that the WBC actively frowns upon unification matches.
In the last 3 WBA-WBC unifications (Canelo vs Trout, Khan vs Garcia and Ioka vs Yaegashi) the fighters have been told by the WBC that should they win they will have to pick a title.
Now only Ioka ended up having to do that, but he's not the first fighter to have to (Tim Bradley vs Alexander being another example).

The WBA have what is termed a "Unified Champion" for those that unify as well as their "Super champion" status. Usually if they have a super champion they will allow a unified champion as well, think Light Middleweight (Floyd is Super Canelo is Unified)
