Barker v Geale weigh in

Both came in at 159.5lbs.

I don't think looking gaunt is anything unusual at a weigh in. You have fighters who have the body type that goes ripped to shreds when they cut weight such as Pacquiao and Lucian Bute and you have the guys who look drawn such as Kelly Pavlik. Both are the result of cutting weight.Final round wrote:Another good scrap! Does Geale look a little gaunt?

That's more down to drink though, Hatton looks badly drained there, sunken stomach, gaunt face.Final round wrote:jameswilson wrote:I don't think looking gaunt is anything unusual at a weigh in. There's gaunt, I don't think you want to look too drawn the day before a fight. Pavlik's future isn't looking to bright at his youngish age.
I'm sure I read that Kelly has signs of Parkinsons which he attributes to boxing.expe wrote: That's more down to drink though, Hatton looks badly drained there, sunken stomach, gaunt face.
Not sure he has signs of Parkinsons. I read that he had suffered a fit though which is why he decided to pack up boxing.Final round wrote:I'm sure I read that Kelly has signs of Parkinsons which he attributes to boxing.expe wrote: That's more down to drink though, Hatton looks badly drained there, sunken stomach, gaunt face.

nah, Geale isn't really a big mw.i don't think he cuts much. By all accounts he is a gym ratFinal round wrote:Another good scrap! Does Geale look a little gaunt?
Fair play mate, should be a good one.thunderfromdownunder wrote:nah, Geale isn't really a big mw.i don't think he cuts much. By all accounts he is a gym ratFinal round wrote:Another good scrap! Does Geale look a little gaunt?
Nice excuse.Deserter wrote:Sadly I'm with you guys - i'm fully expecting Geale to outwork Barker to win a clear UD and for us to find out in the aftermath that Barker's preparation was hampered by injuries.
I think that's bit unfair on Barker mate - he's had such a clear track record of injuries dogging him in recent years and he always comes across as classy, so if it turns out after the fight he says he was injured in the run-up I'd tend to believe him.columbo wrote:Nice excuse.Deserter wrote:Sadly I'm with you guys - i'm fully expecting Geale to outwork Barker to win a clear UD and for us to find out in the aftermath that Barker's preparation was hampered by injuries.
Yeah but if his injuries are that bad he should retire already. It's a bit unfair on Geale if he loses to say well I was injured which then takes away from Geales win. It's also an easy thing to say if you do lose to be fair. Like you say Barker comes across as a good guy so I wish him well but I just dont like hearing that kind of thing after fights.Deserter wrote:I think that's bit unfair on Barker mate - he's had such a clear track record of injuries dogging him in recent years and he always comes across as classy, so if it turns out after the fight he says he was injured in the run-up I'd tend to believe him.columbo wrote:Nice excuse.Deserter wrote:Sadly I'm with you guys - i'm fully expecting Geale to outwork Barker to win a clear UD and for us to find out in the aftermath that Barker's preparation was hampered by injuries.
Anyway, here's hoping it doesn't come to that and he wins anyway
Why is the world-renowned cartoon character Butt-Head having a fight with the not so world-renowned boxer Daniel Geale?jameswilson wrote:Both came in at 159.5lbs.
Well he shouldnt make excuses if he loses then. I think if he does lose it wont have anything to do with injuries anyway. Barker has always had quite a lazy style which might not do well against Geale's high workrate.squared circle wrote:Retire and do what?
If he can earn most money for his family boxing, and isn't ripping paying punters off by competing half-fit then I don't begrudge him digging in through injuries and seeing how far his 90% fitness takes him.
For all we know he is injury free at minute anyway, and I hope he wins
