Haven`t seen much on here regarding last weekend`s fight with Gary Buckland that Smith was the underdog and was expected to lose.
It was a picture- perfect shot to end the fight,respect to Smith particularly as he was fighting Lee Selby`s stablemate,he showed lots of character to take the fight let alone win in spectacular style.

Smith was exceptional; he can go as far as he wants if he's kept busy - there's no one in Europe to touch him; Smith would beat some of the very top men and is beyond defending the British; it wouldn't surprise me if he wins a world title and I don't think anyone will do that to Buckland if he has another 50 fights.

That shot was world class!! Loved it!

I was brought up in Gloucester with the Buckland family over 20 yrs ago , i was rooting for gary , shocked at the KO , liked the way the Smith brothers showed respect when Gary was out cold ,total class team smith , repect tho awsome KO

Very classy and glad Smith has come back fully now from the Seby loss. Saw a video with Buckland on Youtube before the fight, and somebody mentioned whether he was worried about Smiths power and he completely dismissed it. I think it is safe to say Buckland was probably the most surprised of everybody!

Long overdue this thread did think why there wasnt one.
Credit is due he was an underdog in hostile territory and pull out a
clinical KO.Boxed well and followed instruction Joe's dedication to researching his fighters opponents produces a blue print to glory.
He gets slagged off for his fighters taking too much hammer and beibg predictable. I think in Smith Cardle and Quigg we are seeing his mark 2 style coming through. Well done Ste and Joe good work fellas he will not finish many opponents in such a way one to show the grandkids .

I was more surprised to hear Gary weighed 30 pound over weight ten days before the fight

Excellent performance, Buckland lunged in recklessly and Smith took his chance with a highlight kayo reminiscent of a face down Pacquiao

If he was so much over shouldn't the board have pulled him 30lb is ridiculous I said to lad at our gym Buckland looked like a fat bloke who'd lost a load of weight quick

If he was that far over a month out at the check weigh in the board would pull the fight.

My lad sparred Buckland 10 days out from the fight which was his last spar and he was NOT 30lbs over the fight limit at all, he was in good shape and weighed 9st 10lbs after training, I know that 100%, I was there. Smith was class the way he timed Bucklands double jab, letting him think he's pushed Swifty back only for Stephen to time the 2nd jab, drop his right shoulder and detonate the perfect uppercut has Buckland steamed forward, head down. Glad Gary was ok after, he's a really nice lad, he will come again, and Swifty is a mate so was over the moon for him, only what he deserved and about time too.

I thought Gary looked a bit weight drained?? Maybe that 6lbs off took its toll?? That was a different Gary Buckland to what we have seen and an inspired Smith.. I was very very shocked but at the start if the fight things didn't look right for Gary he didn't have the look in his eye that he normally has. I hope he comes back and figures out what went wrong.. Think he will be up at lightweight to light welter from now on... A lot of the Super Feathers in the uk must be chomping at the bit!! The division seemed wrapped up by Gary now it's wide open!! Will Smith have many defences?? I feel he will try and move on as quick as he can.

So can the Smith brothers end up holding 4 Lonsdale belts simultaneously? If Liam can beat Ochieng that just leaves Callum needing to step up and beat Enzo. Job done.

I think there has to be a very real chance of that happening. I don't know anything about the brothers other than what I see on telly and in magazine articles but they come across as a really sound bunch who are a credit to British boxing. It was really encouraging to hear Paul so positive after his fantastic win v Dodson (compared to the first bout, which I saw live and was OK but no classic, the rematch was an exciting spectacle and Paul looked great). Is this down to being spurred on by the success and development of his brothers? A healthy sibling rivalry can be a great motivation but, with these guys, I feel there is a real mutual support aspect to it all too.
