The guy comes out with some very odd things. Weird.

I play poor old Steve online at scrabble. I do think he doesn't know overly much though.

He's thick plain and simple like Kugan Cassius -there's no crime in that but it's annoying because he's getting paid a lot to provide informed commentary which he isn't capable of doing.

I don't mind him normally, but he was awful last night.

I do like a bit of online scrabble as well.

Blimey just had a look at this. Holdsworth was in truly bizarre form. Anyone else notice him blurt "She's got him again there!" at the end of the second. Poor Richie. He didn't know what to say through most of the commentary.

He chooses to take the moral high ground a lot and I'm not sure that aloofness becomes him.

Is there anyone left on this big, busy planet who believes he is ever commentating at ringside?

I have a VHS of a screensport or Eurosport replay of Pryor vs Arguello. I didn't know the result as I was young but Steve blew it out there in the second round then spent the whole fight criticizing Arron Pryor. He's always been shite, always.

He's always been an eccentric commentator who can be kind of entertaining to listen to rather than someone that really knows what he's talking about hasn't he?

i loved his commentary on Davarryl Williamson v Kevin McBride, where he finished the fight by announcing that he thought neither of them was going anywhere anyway

was a bit embarrassed for Richie woodhall as well. unfortunately woodhall can only partly tell the honest truth.

Danny williams should have retired years ago...and this german/euro circus is utterly ridiculous and beneath contempt. all involved in this sorry mess should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves...from the retarded corner men to Richie woodhall (in his role as commentator for eurotrash).

I really like him as a commentator I find him very entertaining. I'd prefer him to Jim Watt any day.

I like Steve as a commentator too

I'm a fan of his eccentric style too.

His commentary on Henry Akinwande v Peter McNeeley is absolutely superb. Has been highly entertaining throughout the years and would rather tune in and hear the odd bizarre clanger than listen to Halling/Rawling/Smith trot out cliche after tired cliche.

1. Holdsworth "Well viewers, Danny Williams is completely shot, he can't take a punch at all and he's gonna incur more brain damage tonight. He should be banned from boxing worldwide for his own good, but boxing is a brutal, selfish and sometimes disgusting sport."

2. The ratings drop as people change the channel.

3. Steve gets the sack.

If Danny is doing next to no sparring and folding pretty easy in the fights, then I suppose he could be doing less damage than say a weekend rugby player. Just a thought. I know he's a plank for carrying on.

My father-in-law and three or four of the lads at work are casual fans, who don't know much about boxing, but will watch it when it's on and have no idea of Danny Williams level of shotness.

If Holdsworth says tells the casual fan that a fight ain't worth watching. What do you think they'd do? Turn over of course.

If I was gonna watch a footy match on SKY (I'm an occasional footy fan) and the commentator said, "this match is goning to be dull as hell, because both teams play really dull, boring, defensive football.".... What would I do? That's right..... I'd turn over.
