Lewison says Dallas has to ask the wizard of oz for courage

Ian Lewison has questioned Tom Dallas’s “will and desire” – and says a knockout win will prepare him to fight Sam Sexton.

The 31-year-old meets Dallas at York Hall on September 7 with the vacant southern area heavyweight crown on the line.

With the lure of claiming his first professional title, “Lay Em Out” insists he’ll waste no time in disposing of the 28-year-old.

“I will happily tell him my strategy to his face,” said Lewison. “The fight I’m going to bring to Dallas means he’s going to question himself in between rounds. And I’ll take him out within three rounds because he cannot last with me.

“He’ll need to see the Wizard of Oz for a heart and some courage.

“The fact is, and this is the truth, Dallas is looking for a way back in. He wants to get back in the British title mix.

“And this fight is a risk for both of us. Let’s put things in perspective: neither one of us can afford any slip-ups. This is paramount to both of us.

I want the European title by the end of next year

“But when the fight comes, my performance will be that much better.

“I’m going to take out Tom Dallas first, preparing me for Sexton. He is a step up from Dallas so this fight is helping me build.

“And when Dallas gets into a hard fight, when he’s tested on will and desire, that’s where it falls apart.”

Sexton drew Lewison’s wrath last month by claiming on Twitter that the Brixton man was beneath him.

While Lewison was not quite as outspoken when speaking to LincBoxing – originally he called for Sexton to “get out of the dresses he wears around Norwich, develop some balls and fight” – he said he would exploit the former Commonwealth champion’s “weak chin” should a bout be arranged.

“Sexton is on another level to Dallas,” said Lewison. “But how can he say I’m not at his level? Look at his last three opponents (Tayar Mehmed, Tomas Mrazek and Jiri Svacina, with a combined record of 24-68-8). That’s a contradiction to what he said about me.

“He has been a good fighter when it’s mattered and when he has to rise to the situation. On the British scene, Sam Sexton is a good name to have on your record.

“But he lacks a chin. If he had one, he’d be a threat to anyone. But you can’t put cement into it.

“And after I beat him I want the European title by the end of next year. I am keen and eager to go and take on whatever is there.”

His comments about Dallas and his will are spot on. Both fighters need this in order to progress on the British scene. Will it be televised at all?

Gone off Lewison big time after he slagged a guy on Twitter about his son with Down syndrome. Classless.

Lewison is a moron that spouts rubbish Tom will do boxing a favor and get rid of this trash talking low life once and for all,Tom fought David Price at 4 days notice when Price was being touted as the next big thing and no one else would step in with him, there is certainly nothing wrong with Toms courage levels,Can not wait to see Ian (Laid out) Lewison lose this fight

Tom Dallas is very average. If Lewison is fit and 80% mentally prepared he should stop Tom inside 5. Will go abit like the Skelton wrestling match imo

Deano, please don't tell me you're the "Becky" figure in all of this. I have visions of the Gatlins (Lewison, Olivia and Steve) doing unspeakable things to you, and Tom fighting for your honour.
  nice one you wont hear a pin drop when lewison hits the floor :OhYes:

Dallas has been stopped by everyone with a winning record he's fought with the exception of Swaby, who was 25-24. 4 of Lewison's 7 wins have come against people with winning records. You've got to fancy him to do a job on Dallas, really.]

(In other news, researching that has led me to learn that Dorian Darch is fighting for a WBC Youth Intercontinental heavyweight title at the age of 29. I know heavyweights are getting older, but this is stretching the definition of youth, surely?)

not a very accurate statment that one samwise, there are 5 boxers with winning records that Tom has knocked out not that its something to be proud of because of the caliber of opponent that they where, but for factual correctness i had to pull you up on it, Ian lewison also has a loss to colin kenna and draw with pavels dolgovs so if its records you going on lewison has two decent wins on his record Darch and a very very past it timo hoffman, just saying

That was my son who was on my picture with me,never got an apology of him!! Im still hoping to see him get sparked at some point, but it wont happen this fight, easy win for Lewison...
Steve Goodwin gave us 3 ringside seats for Lewisons cruel remarks, which was nice of him as he didnt have to do that,as was not his fault.. Top Man :TU:

Natural Ability Ian should play with him, but if its goes more then 4 round I see him coming unstuck.. In the Am's he was class it's just his fitness that lets him down.

You're quite right; I don't know what went on with my brain there. Nevertheless, Lewison still has better wins.

Respect to Goodwin for doing that, that's a quality gesture, shows he's a decent guy. I agree with you that Dallas won't be the man to defeat Lewison either, Lewison will KO him I reckon.

I think if tom takes it beyond 4 rounds he will win. Lewison has no where near the fitnwss levels of the bedford bear in my opinion. But i do think lewison will come out swinging!

It just felt like an apposite moment to bring this back to the top. KO2. Lewison isn't going to be world champ, but he was always going to win this.
