You love to talk about Muhammad Ali, but only at his worst.
What's your next threads, Ali and the 5 men that beat him?
How would Ali the amateur do against Lennox Lewis the Heavyweight Champion?
The Times Ali got knocked down?
What if Ali came back in 1985 against a debuting Mike Tyson?
What's your next thread designed to belittle Ali...I'm dying to know

If I was his manager, I'd say win lose or draw fight Muhammad.
1. Money will be better
2. If you lose, you lose very little status
3. Big gains to be made with a draw, and especially a win. Notch Ali...and the $ grow exponentially.
4. He's ripe for the pickin'.
Notching an aging champ is one of the best ways to claim a bit of history.
Easy call.

BoxBuzz, I couldn't agree with you more.
LeDoux would have been little more than a heavy bag workout for the late 1980 version of Gerry Cooney and he may well have gotten hurt in the process. And no one outside of the LeDoux family would've forseen anything other than Larry Holmes dancing and jabbing him silly, which is exactly what happened, and carrying little prestige away from a one-sided loss.
I don't know whether LeDoux received poor career guidance or he didn't have a realistic view of his own abilities, but he should've held out for the Ali fight just as you said.

i agree
pointless Ali posts.
you'd be better off just standing outside Ali's house holding a derogatory banner. far more effective than this rather pathetic spleen-fenting on Boxrec

Thanks for trying to troll and derail a serious thread, FBB. Do us a favor and go somewhere else.

I wonder if LeDoux ever regretted not taking that fight.

No.
Scott LeDoux said he did the right thing and was properly guided by his Manager 'Papa Joe' Daskiewicz.
Scott's wife Sandy was going through Cancer at the time in 1980, and she also told Scott to go
for the WBC Championship and by-pass Muhammad Ali, who was really in no shape to fight in
May-June-July 1980.
If Scott fought and lost to Muhammad Ali, he would have never fought for a Heavyweight Championship.
I'm not surprised by that. Scott's a real standup guy, whose courage far exceeded his talent in my view. He wouldn't have taken any pride in beating a shell of Muhammad Ali, and I'm sure he knew that.
And yes Scott LeDoux would've beaten Ali in 1980. Virtually any decent Heavyweight would've. Ali was beyond done by then.
