Takaloo is still looking for an opponent on May 13 at York Hall after first Wayne Alexander and now Belfast's Neil Sinclair pulled out of fights for the vacant WBU light-middleweight title (Sinclair felt it was asking too much of him to jump up a weight in a 12-rounder after a year out).

yes i think Sinclair should have a couple of warm up fights before going into the deep end, whos the holder of the european welter weight title, sinky should fight him

allegedly's fighters don't fight for European titles. They win a British title (at best), then go straight for the naff WBU belt.
The WBU has really hurt boxing in this country in my opinion.

I was talking about the damage the WBU belt has done to boxing in this country in the pub at the weekend with a couple of pals.

It has IMO devalued the more prestigous belts such as the Brit,EU titles...

I would really love to see fighters taking the traditional route and bypassing this bloody belt but money talks and having a world title (if you call it that) earns money.

Its good for fighters to earn money but bad for the fans, we are missing out on some great domestic clashes due to these bloody alphabet titles.

Apparently Ossie Duran's name has cropped up. Tak's not overly impressed but what can you do when two opponents pull out? He just wants to get back with a win and hopefully something good will come during the summer. He was really focussed on beating Alexander and felt Sinclair would have been a good scrap but just wants to get back in there.

Maybe it’s just a coincide Sinclair has never fought for a WBU belt and suddenly becomes ill or fights someone else, perhaps Sinclair knows what the WBU is worth

Yeah, WBU = pants, but it also = a couple of more 00s on you're paycheck than a routine 8-10 rounder and when you have a mortgage to pay and ain't earnt any cash for a while (Sinclair and Tak have hardly been busy) it's not to be laughed at.

yes i agree, also if your not good enought to beat the top 5 fighters in the world you should try to make the most money you can buy winning other titles

In Tak's defence, he had no real option but to fight for the WBU because he wasn't a British citizen. Now that, thankfully, he has been granted citizenship, he hasn't got a prayer of fighting British champ Jamie Moore for politcial reasons, so it's back to the WBU.

There are enough opponents for Tak out there.
Blame the Promotors.
They won't work together, period.

I think SKY have to take some of the blame for the WBU drivel we continually see. I'm sure they insist on every top of the bill fight they screen needing to have some kind of belt attached. The fact that, that belt means feck all in the real world doesn't matter.

In fact does anyone know who is in control of things over at SKY in regards boxing?

Don't know his name, but they showed him in that feature on Mike Goodall recently. As camp as a row of tents.
