It has Steve Cunningham defeating bj Flores.
I thought the count would of been deemed controversial on here as he rose at nine to be waved off.
Your thoughts??
Should O'connor been in this advert

Agree bit of a strange one innit, doesn't really wholly make sense or seem particularly relevant.

I remember the first time I saw that advert & was totally perplexed as to why boxing was on ITV at 7:15pm.

I can just about see the point of the advert now, but I can think of better ways to advertise a 4 litre, twin turbo V8 estate car with 552 bhp!! :P

As a boxing fan I thought the advert was pretty cool. The bit that spoils the message is between the tagline's when the car arrives, it's too dis-jointed from the first statement.
Also, they made a bit of a mistake putting 'The Hammer' on Cunningham's shorts

I noticed this yesterday, it's Michael Watson vs. Nigel Benn. Go to about 8mins 30. Look at the refs mouth and look which direction he's looking when he waves the fight off and Benn is stood up..........

if you watch it from about 8 mins you can hear Jim Watt on great form there. I also like how magnanimous Benn is in this vid at the end too. As well as Watson's masterclass of course.

I think coyle is taking the count directly from the keeper?? Can't remember the title but as you said he took Watson straight to a neutral corner & had to pick the count up.
Loved benn just ended up on YouTube for over an hour watching benn. Makes me laugh when you get middleweights say its going to be like that era! We won't get that for a good while I'd say.

Maybe they are saying the ref has the power

That's what the advert is saying, power comes from a less obvious place.
It's just a weird advert.
Anyone that watches boxing knows what the ref does.
We all know what an RS6 can do.
It's kinda pointless. The first time I saw it I thought eh, what a daft advert.

I think the idea is that there's 2 very big powerful guys in there (the boxers)....but the one that tells them both what to do is actually in charge. It's almost too subtle. It looks great anyway, but it's still daft.
I really don't know what an RS6 is..........I thought you'd missed an 'F' out.....rsf6

Tony Weeks is the ref in question, very good referee too.

For the British market, they shot a fight with a British fighter against an American, with Phil Edwards as the referee. They did twenty takes and then binned the idea, because every time the American went down, Phil counted him out, even though he was up at 9.

that was the American and his team's fault though to be fair.....they knew what they were letting themselves in for

Or course it was mate. When you get knocked to the floor by a looping right, the first thing you think of is.... 'I'm fighting on foreign soil, so I need to get up with a few seconds to spare or the ref will stop the fight. If I'm up before ten seconds and ready to continue, he'll stop the fight.'
