It would give Floyd another world title at another weight. Could this happen?

Wouldn't matter, it'd be like Leonard vs Lalonde.

If you're right it's kinda frightening, but the reality is I'm sure these people have some idea of what's going on in boxing circles, especially a stone or 2 either side of them.
I do remember Ricky Hatton recanting how he once introduced himself to Kostya Tyszu at an airport and Kostya not having a clue who he was..........then again you could probably drop Floyd in a ring with someone he's never heard of and he'd figure them out sharpish.

If he was to move up to middleweight, Martinez would be more likely, less of a size difference and Martinez is reasonably well known in the US.

Just what have you been drinking or smoking to even suggest this?

Ricky had only had a few fights at this point, though.

Baker has the blueprint. War Baker.

Is it Baker or barker? I`ll ask Buffer.

They could sell it as "Pretty Boy" Floyd vs "Butt-Head" Barker, due to Darren's uncanny and unsettling likeness to the infamous cartoon character.

Barker would be more of an attraction then the likes of Austin trout before Canelo beat him.mayweather brings the attention he's a household name & the whole country would get behind Darren & it would be the sixth weight for floyd.
I think what ricky hatton done showed the world how the Brits buy in & show up to events we are a massive audience

No one's heard of Barker, whereas Hatton had a huge following and was well known around the country. Barker's a nobody in the US, Trout's fought on HBO and Showtime and beat Cotto, who's one of the biggest draws in the US.

Barkers fought Martinez & the whole of the uk know who mayweather is down to hatton & everybody understands the magnitude of fighting mayweather.
As for defeating cotto the man is damaged goods, margarito finished him then badly bashed v pacquio I think massively tenderised by the time trout boxed him

But hardly anyone knows who Barker is, here and in America, he's not a huge seller in London. Cotto is damaged goods, but he's popular in the US, especially with those of Puerto Rican heritage and beating him will have made a lot of people aware of Trout, whereas Barker beat Geale, who's a nobody outside of Australia.

Like said he's fought Martinez a big draw in the states & barker is relatively known. Mayweather won't go near Martinez & the fact barker holds a belt could make him a prospect but I don't see floyd going for a sixth weight.
Dlh fought sturm as easy option to claim crown so I'd say barker is a realistic option

Martinez isn't a huge name, if I'm totally honest, Barker's a nobody, here and in the US, there's no way that Showtime would agree to the fight, especially after Mayweather scraped past 1 million PPVs against Guerrero, who's much better known than Barker.

Barker is from Barnet, I played for Barnet until I was 19 (4 years ago) and I have a few mates there and mates that like around Barnet/Enfield. I said I was watching the Barker - Geale fight the other week to a few mates from there and they said 'who?'

My feeling is that is a Bridge to far in so many ways... difference in class... diffence in purse and differnce in popularity. .. Darren has excelled himself to get a world title. .. I like watching Darren box but even he will admitt hes not in the elite. .. i cant ever this fight happen... it doesn't make any sense for both imo
