Could a fight with Canelo be Barker's best chance of a really big payday?

There's bigger names out there for Alvarez to fight like Cotto, Lara, Quillin etc. Barker's best hope of a payday is a big domestic fight with Murray or Macklin next year.

More chance of Canelo fighting Quillin that Barker if he decides to go up to middleweight.

Possibly. I think the bait of a middleweight title belt being up for grabs in his comeback fight may tempt Canelo's handlers. I'd definitely test the water if I was looking after Barker.

Quillin has a middleweight belt aswell though and is also with Golden boy.

Can't see Canelo beating the top middleweights at the moment.

I think he's too small myself. I know that seems silly seeing how much he weighs come fight night but whilst he's a thick set guy he's pretty short to be competing at middleweight.

Quillin,golovkin and even sturm and Martinez are too seasoned for Alvarez who ,and its easy to say in hindsight but I was saying it all along is a vastly overrated fighter

Canelo would beat Quillan and Strum with ease mate, Golovkin is another matter based on the power hes got and Martinez would also be hard but winnable

Why would Barker go to Texas as the champion. It is just as bad as Germany, if not worse.

Yeah exactly. The money would be what causes him to go over there. There's talk that he might go to Germany to defend his belt against Sturm as it is because Sturm has big financial backing.

There's no guarantee he'll win any of those fights though. Geale would be better prepared for Barker next time, Sturm is a shrewd operator and Murray is quite possibly the best middleweight in the UK.

I agree Murray is the best that's why I stopped naming fights after that as I think Murray beats him and Barker calls it a day as those are 3 really tough fights, but i'm sure he would win the first two.

He'd do well to beat Sturm in Germany, against him you need to win 8 rounds clearly to realistically have a hope of getting the nod and even that wasn't enough for Macklin.
