This one seems to have slipped under the radar,he,s fighting EBU Middleweight champ Max Bursak

Bursaks coming off a clear points win over Prince Arron a few months back,he looks alright i suppose but hopefully Blackwells tough fights against Martin Murray and Billy Joe Sauders will stand him in good stead

You know Nick will give it a go plus he,s nothing to lose so heres hoping

I think this is a really interesting fight strangly Boxrec now have this as a non title fight and the EBU website no longer list it for the Euro title, dont know if anyone in the Blackwell team
can clear this up, I think Nick has a chance here, this could be a really good fight.

Hope it is for the title but worrying to see the belt taken down off Boxrec and the EBU website.

I've really become a fan of this kid. I love how he gives it 100% a tough kid who will take on anyone anywhere & give them a good contest.
I'd like to see somebody get hold of him & do somthing with him I think he could do well.

Steve foster & Robinson got thrown in with everybody & challenged & win world titles. This kid could drop down to l. Middle & could possibly do somthing

A statement put out by Nick Blackwell. I'm an old school fighter, I will not turn down a challenge because that is what I believe boxing is about, it's a competitive sport. I'm not in boxing to be protected and brought on wrapped in cotton wall. My management offer me fights and its my decision to take them. I'm not prepared to be one of these boxers that are looked after for 15 to 20 fights then get put in with someone who destroys me and I never get over it like so many out there. I'm a old school fighter. I've been in with the best. Martin Murray stopped me in 5 rounds - I went into that fight with a broken rib. But I learnt so much from that fight and now Martin is at world level. Then Billy Joe Saunders, I gave Billy a hard fight when a lot of critics out there thought I would get taken out early. Even Billy who is a good friend now underestimated me. Then the Bursak fight was offered to me which I didn't even have to think about. I beat Bursak in his own backyard even though I didn't get the decision - robbed. But the Bursak fight has shown what level I am at and at only the age of 22 I've already done more than many boxers will ever do. Like I said I'm an old school fighter and my time is coming as I'm getting stronger and stronger. Thanks to everyone for their support

He is a down to earth lad who deserves a good opportunity his team have done well by him in regards opportunities baring in mind they have no tv deal and little sponsorship if he was with the hearns or bunny he would have been guidd a little more carefully but as he says above he thrives on the challenge I just hope he doesnt take to much punishment in sparring with guys like ggg and froch ect as he has the potential to be decent and clearly learns fast but gym wars could also take thier toll

Good luck to Nick, if someone gets hold of him soon and puts some time and effort and Matchmaking in this kid, he can go a very long way there is so much natural ability there. He has surprised me in both his last fights, although not so much the Bursak fight because after I saw the Saunders fights I knew we had a top middleweight on our hands. If the UK promoters are not going to jump all over Nick perhaps he needs a different route, good luck to Nick and his team whichever way they go.

Blackwell is back out in a 10 rounder against Max Maxwell for British Masters strap on 26th Oct.

Good to hear. Hopefully he gets a few more fights under his belt before a other big matchup. Gave a really good account of himself against and Saunders and Bursak. A fight against Eubank Jr next year could be good!
