Was talking with the lads the other day about going to Vegas next time there's a decent fight on over there. How much do you think I’ll be looking at from your experiences, in total? There must be a fair few on here that have been over at least once.

I'm not too bothered on gambling, probably spend a few hundred on that maximum, hotel doesn't have to be posh etc. How long do most people go out for, just the weekend?

Defo something Ive got to do in the next few years.

Hotel - you can pay relatively little and stay in one of the top hotels so don't worry about that.

Fight - depends on what type of seats you'd like, prices are similar to over here for the cheap seats but ringside seats go higher.

Flight - probably the most expensive part. I paid £400 odd last time and that was 2011.

Duration - I'd suggest 4/5 days. The time difference is a bit of a killer if you're there any longer so best to get it done quickly and face the tiredness when you get back.

Spending money - all depends on your persona taste, you can lose a couple hundred quid gambling even if you're not a big gambler but you can also win big too. Food and drink is quite expensive but I suppose offset by the reasonable hotel prices. Best thing to do is use a hotel/casino all you can eat buffet once a day and get filled up

I went to the Mayweather v Guerreo fight in May and it was one of the best experinces of my life. I would say Vegas is as expensive as you want it to be really. I went for a week and it cost £815 for flights and accomodation at the MGM grand. I took about £2000 spending money and spent it all. I gambled quiet a bit and bought a few things so you could do it for a lot less.

I would say if it is your first time go for as long as you can afford but try at least 5 days and prob about 2 weeks max (as any longer might kill you haha).
Without gambling you could probably get away with £100-200 a day depeding on how much you drink and where. Ideally you want to take more than enough because the more money you have the more fun you can have in Vegas.

Sounds like should be able to do 5 days on 3 grand.

I went to Hatton v Pacquiao and a flight, ticket, hotel package cost me 1200. That was 2009 i think. I reckon i could have done that for much less but i booked a package to save the hassle. Im also considering going again next year hopefully for a mayweather fight. This time i will buy things individually to save £s.

Id advise looking into some things to do when you are there otherwise you may do the same as me and just batter the drink and not remember a single thing from start to finish. Got a few pictures tho. Haha.

Gambling in Vegas isn't the mugs game it is here because you've only got to break even to be up as you get free drink in the casinos and there'll sort you out with free food tokens, free tickets to shows etc etc if you play long enough.

I'm just back from Floyd v Canelo - 25th trip there. You can get away with v little if its not a fight of that magnitude (don't fly direct; stay either off strip or somewhere like the Trop or Luxco; eat buffets; don't gamble much).

You can also drop a lot of coin.

I went for the mayweather/Guerrero fight. 10 days cost us £1350 with 2 sharing. Stayed at the MGM Grand with a direct flight with virgin from gatwick. Your best bet is to see what packages virgin holidays are currently offering you might pick yourself up a bit of a bargin.

Tips

Watch your gambling. People say they won't get carried away but it's more difficult than you think.

Get yourself to the twin peaks restaurant/bar just outside Planet Hollywood the best draught beer and some serious waitress eye-candy. You'll be watering at the mouth.

Connecting rather than direct flights can save £200 and add only an extra 3-4 hours to a journey. Well worth it.

Look on Expedia, Opodo, Travelocity etc and book whichever mid-range, mid-Strip hotel they have on special. NB: low-mid-range Strip hotels are generally better than 3* UK hotels. Slightly off-Strip (Hooters eg) can bring price down further but are still close to everything.

Get a shuttle from the airport to the strip not a taxi. Cheaper, great service, minimal tip and very quick.

Get your trips, nights out, restaurant bookings etc from the little hut outside MGM. Great deals.

Shop at the South outlet mall (the indoor one). Local and very good bargains.

If you don't have a car get a week's pass for the Deuce/RDX buses which serve the Strip.

Good advice, I always get a connecting flight in L.A - stop off there for a night and recover before getting a connecting flight, you can get a motel in L.A for next to nothing. Have a wander on venice beach and recover. Far cheaper if you do that.

Stay at the MGM, rooms start at 99 dollars a night,and sometimes 69 dollars and you can often get a free upgrade too, it's so vast, you rarely fill it. Stay in the emerald tower, get a room facing out onto the strip, wicked views. You will be amazed how big the room is.

Go to the palms casino at night, they have good clubs, (most of the clubs in Vegas are pretty shite compare to London clubs, unless you're a real high roller).

Play the poker machines at the bars, if you get chatting to the barman and strike up a bit of chat, he'll give you free drinks all night, this worked to good effect for me; got sloshed for next to nothing all night courtesy of Hector - mind you, think he fancied my missus which probably helped - but generally if you're spending a bit of money, doesn't have to be a fortune, then the bar guys will give you some drinks - if you are at the tables, you will spend a hell of a lot more.

As said elsewhere, go for buffets, you will eat like a king for not very much money.

Get your flights early if there's a big fight on. When Mayweather/Canelo got announced there were flights for around £450, closer to the fight they were around £1300.

If you are half decent at Poker, you can sometimes make the trip pay for itself. And echoing what has been said before if you are a big drinker -free drinks when you gamble so you could sit on a low limit poker table/slot machine and drink as much as you want.

I have stayed at Caesars Palace, Luxor, Paris and Excalibur and found them all to be pretty similar standard although Excalibur is a little dated. You tend to spend very little time in your room so as long as its clean and air conditioned you will be fine.

If you don't like walking might be best to avoid Circus Circus and places a little further out but you will walk a lot generally as most of the casinos are vast.

4 days is plenty in Vegas as novelty can wear off when you are there longer than that and there are some much nicer places to visit in that part of world.

Totally agree, 4 days, maybe 5 max is enough - all gets a bit samey after a while, and really other than the strip, there is nothing else much to recommend Vegas, the rest is just suburbs and shitty local bars.

If you want to have a nice trip, book a few days in San Francisco, it's a cheap internal flight, and if you stay at the Metro in Haight Ashbury, you can get a nice BnB room with Wifi, for about 90 bucks a night. 4 days in vegas, 4 in SF, nice contrast. SF is a wonderful place, if you do go, and you like a drink, go to Bar Zam Zam, best cocktails I've ever had.

Thanks for all the advice. Might look at a stop in L.A on the way, then 4 nights in Vegas, then a stop in San Fransisco or somewhere else on way back, if the flights work out cheaper, the money saved could pay for them days.
