I think this is a fight that Bowe could win. IF this fight is fought within his 60 minute prime.
However.....any other time off the center axis of the prime of both their careers this is Joe's.
Bowe had a career spike unrivaled by anyone....Joe had an extended prime glide ramp equally as unrivaled.

Bowe more bigger, more stronger fighter than Joe.I think Riddick beat him by midround stoppage.

Even though Bowe is bigger and stronger than Louis, you can't ignore Louis' accomplishment as the longest reigning heavyweight champion ever at nearly 12 years with 25 successful defense and Louis even bigger men than Bowe. Bowe is better than other big men that Louis fought, but Louis is a legend and loved by boxing fans back then and he will beat Bowe by chopping him down to size for a decision or late round stoppage.

Bowe never fought anyone the level of Louis either.

Only chance for Bowe is to force the fight on the inside as much as possible and even then I don't give him much of a shot. With the possible exception of chin I rate Louis better in every department. The problem for Bowe is that he was always very hitable and if there ever was a heavyweight that could put together powerful combinations it was Louis. I see this as a methodical beatdown with Louis surviving the odd Bowe right hand. Louis tko 10

holyfield was only 205 in there first fight so maybe the size difference isn't such a big deal

Holyfield was good, but he wasn't THAT good.
Louis is in the top 2 HWs of all-time for me & no-one could realistically have him outside of their top 5s.
Holyfield is not a top 5 all-time heavyweight.

I agree with you 100%. Riddick Bowe was a very good fighter. A guy that could have been an all-time great if he took the sport seriously, but he did not.

Louis was definitely a bigger man than Holyfield. This is an EASY matchup to pick . . Louis by KO within 5 rounds.

I think Joe would be in trouble here. He always has the punchers chance, but forging inside is what he would have to do and Riddick was a beast in close. Bowe TKO9.

When did Bowe keep a man off the end of his jab for 10 rounds, let alone 15? Bowe always let guys inside because he didn't have the discipline to fight a prolonged distance fight, and he liked to mix it up when hit. If you seriously think Louis's fast (far faster than Riddick) inside combinations won't win an inside battle with Bowe, you are wearing foggy glasses.

The problem I have with the theory that all these guys in the 80's and 90's were so good is George Foreman. I mean he was old man, been retired for 10 years and he was a contender during this "great era"?
Hard for me to believe those guys were better than the guys of the 70's if Foreman can be that good in their era in his 40's.
And the guys of the 30's well in a lot of cases I think they were much much better. Remember in the '30's you didn't have the NFL or NBA so kids weren't all migrating to football and basketball. Times were very bad with the depression so there were more people willing to take a flyer at boxing. The sport was much more mainstream it wasn't hard at all to find a club.
It was just a different time and these guys were much more experienced than today's fighters.
I like Riddick Bowe, but Joe Louis, come on. How many times did he defend his title? How many champs did he fight? Schmeling, Baer, Braddock, Walcott, Charles, Marciano, Carnera, the list just goes on and on. He fought everyone that came around. Riddick Bowe fought himself as much as anyone else.

I'm a far bigger fan of Louis than I am of Bowe, foggy is your assertion that Riddick was some useless bum. Sue me dempsey boy, I like Bowe here.

It's absolutely true that Bowe didn't fight tall, despite his size, and it's also true that he was excellent on the inside. I believe, however, that Joe hit harder and more accurately than Holyfield, and Holy was able to take him to hell, and win one. I think Bowe is going to find the canvas more often, and that's going to cost him.

I want to admit that I like big guys in the heavyweight division. I respected Bowe, Lewis and the Klitschko brothers whom I named certain big guys that can fight, but I respected Joe Louis more because he was the legend and watched his fights a million times to prove how great he was. Few guys who think Bowe would beat Louis in their primes that's great and I respect your opinion and I will not slander you for that. However, the most boxing fans including me predicts that Louis would beat Bowe in their primes because he's the legend that held the heavyweight title for nearly 12 years. Louis is no Holyfield and he's better than the "Real Deal". Bowe never fought someone that was better than Holyfield. Louis would beat Bowe and rank "Big Daddy" as the best big man "The Brown Bomber" beat in his career if they fought in their primes IMO.

At some point Louis would land on the button with every punch from a 4 or 5 shot combo and Bowe whilst durable would be finished...even if he survived the combination...it would be the first of many.
