I'm nearly £900 up on my boxing bets this year. Mostly down to the first Banks-Mitchell fight. So its all going on Povetkin at 6-1.

I know it sounds crazy mate, but Povetkin is the most underrated boxer on the planet.

No way.

Povetkin doesn't have the size, speed, skill nor hunger to be a serious threat to Wlad. What he has got though is the payday he always wanted, which is presumably why he looks so happy.

Anything can happen in boxing (kind of) and we all call it wrong on a regular basis, but I'll be amazed if Keith and a minority of others have a correct hunch for this one.

Using the same trainer though. Mainly because he refused to prepare outside Russia.

Well i'm not sure about him winning,but after watching a few of his recent fights i'm quite excited about it,i suppose it depends if he really wants it or not,the boxers who have beaten Wlad were nothing special,and i think povetkin is better than them,so who knows.

He doesn't have anything special. Fury and Wilder have a better chance just due to their height.

Well he's certainly up against it. But the fact his promoter one the purse bids is one plus, shows they're not just cashing out on this one.

Had a fiver on Povetkin points at 18/1 just in case of any funny scoring.

If he did beat wlad there wouldn't be nothing to get excited about would there!

Pov ain't done or showed anything great or spectacular that suggests he can overturn wlad & if he did it would only be to the fact wlad has slipped.

Heavyweight boxing is dead at the minute haye proved to be no saviour & if wilder is the American hope we really have nothing to look fwd to in the division

The problem is that now, Wlad leaves absolutely nothing to chance, he barely leaves an opening - with his height, reach, footwork, timing, and underrated handspeed, it's almost impossible to land anything significant on him.

You'd either need a physical freak like Tyson, who could get in close and hammer him with lightning combinations, or another big tall heavyweight with reach, like Price or Fury, but with a better chin, and better skills respectively.

I find it hard seeing anything but age or retirement ending the party for Wlad - that of Vitali finding out Wlad has been lending his wife one, and the two of them getting it on.

Thanks mate. I'm know I'm not right in the head, but Povetkin still wins.

Wonder if Povetkin has already lost this fight given he's been shit scared of Wlad in the past by ducking him on a number of occasions.

Povetkin is a very well schooled boxer with a great deal of natural ability. He has good movement, good hand speed, a solid chin and most importantly he's a very accurate puncher. A runner isn't gonna beat Wlad, neither is someone who just covers up. Povetkin has the perfect style to beat him.

Povetkin has turned down a flight with Wlad twice. Once when his trainer and handlers agreed he wasn't ready for Wlad and the other time when his father died. Povetkin isn't scared of anyone mate.

If you're right about this, I will revise my opinion of your boxing knowledge (already pretty good), up by 50%, to "Soothsayer". Meantime, however, I will not bet a single penny on what I expect to be a boring and bloodlessly straightforward win for Wlad.

There was a time when Povetkin looked like he was on his way to becoming a fighter possibly capable of beating the Klitschko's, but he seemed to plateau at a level below that.

I recall the stories from a few years back about how the $3m payday offered to Povetkin, to face Wlad back then, would have gone to everyone but the fighter. I think Teddy Atlas made it public at the time.

Povetkin is arguably a worse fighter than he was back then - he's put on weight, and seems less willing to "go" for an opponent. Plus, he's settled in at a level of competition for the past 2-3 years which is frankly no sort of preparation to face Wlad. Twatting an ancient Rahman means nothing and will teach him nothing.

I hope Povetkin can pull it off but his life and death struggle with Huck was a shocker really.

This is the reason why a guy like Wilder is fighting stiffs. If you string together two or three semi-decent wins these days you're in title contention in this HW division, fighters like Povetkin need time to develop and gain experience, he would have had no chance beating Wlad a couple of years ago, I don't think he'll win now but the fights between then and now are invaluable experience going into a fight like this.
