In his dreams maybe.
Ask the average person who's Muhammad Ali..."One of the best Heavyweight Champions of all time, a Boxing Legend"
Ask the average person who's Ingemar Johansson..."Never heard of him"

I'd like to say something here, but ID says I will need about 4 hours to do some studying, and then I can come up with 50 words.
So if you don't mind ID, Could you just go ahead and offer up my response for me?
Just something that alludes to your credibility or lack there of, depending on how accurate you feel your latest contributions have been.
Be fair, and if you've "taken poetic license' be sure to include that in my response.
However if it was dead on accurate, you can say something nice about yourself for me.

Ingemar Johannson was more popular than Muhammad Ali, I'll give you that.....
In Sweden.

Ingemar Johansson,
"I had more people show up to my sparring sessions, than Clay had at his Championship Fights. He is

That Was A True Fact in 1965.
What a crock of sh*t. 11,000 people ain't going to see any fighter at a f*cking airport. There might've been 11,000 people at the airport that day, but I'm sure they were all doing things like...ya know boarding flights.
Of all the BS you've come up with so far concerning Ali, claiming Johansson was more popular than him is just outright stupid. Ali is one of the most popular fighters in the history of the sport. Johansson has nowhere near that level of fame.
This is just complete nonsense.

Cassius Clay couldn't draw that if he fought every night for a Month in 1965.
Lewiston, Maine................2400..............Couldn't even sell-out a Friggin' High School Hockey Rink.
The Band A-ha drew over 100,000 people at a concert in Norway. They're hardly one of the most popular bands of all time. They were just...Norwegian. Can you see where I'm going with this?
Ingemar drew a huge crowd in Sweden...well that's great.
Ali drew a huge crowd EVERYWHERE in the World. Even Third World Countries.

The 53,164 Swede's stormed the beautiful outdoor stadium, with another 15,000
attempting their best to enter to see the #1 Ranked 'unbeaten' Eddie Machen take
on their home-country Hero - Ingemar 'Ingo' Johansson.
Over 500,000 Swede's tried to get to tickets to this event, and it appeared that everyone
from this beautiful city of Gothenburg {Population; 410,000} situated on the Southwest
Coast of Sweden was either in the Nya Ullevi Stadium or outside around the perimeter of
the Stadium, listening to the events that developed inside.
The cool night temperature of 53* was the 'perfect setting' for this spectacular event.
That in no way supports your original post but you know that. And the GOAT would dispatch of Ingo more easily than he disposed of Brian London.

If you have accurately quoted then we can take it to heart that Ingo said some of these things.
Now, was what he said accurate? Well that's a horse of a different color. And a separate conversation I guess.

It's a little like saying Mark Fydrich was a bigger draw than Ozzie Smith because it was true in 1977.
But that wouldn't mean The Bird was more famous than the Wizard of Oz or even more fun to watch.

I dont have any problem believing that Johannson was a better draw in 1965 than Ali was. Johannson was doing big numbers against relatively weak competition in Europe. While Ali's first bout with Liston drew less than 9000 people and his second bout drew less than 3000. The second Patterson Johannson fight pulled in around 40,000. The third bout pulled in around 14,000. So within the context of that moment in time Johannson was probably correct.

I do, he wasn't even an active fighter anymore. His last fight was 1963

The same place that told Muhammad Ali to take his 'Circus Act' somewhere else in 1980.
They didn't want that 'garbage' in their pristine Stadium.
195,000 in '93 huh? Damn. Good on them.
Still Ali was a bigger draw than Johansson.

yeah but there was still a lot of interest and curiousity in him. He had kept his name in the papers and magazines by teasing a comeback. A lot of times being away from the ring like that builds interest when the fighter comes back and generates a bigger gate than might have been possible when they left. When you look at the context, the fact that both Ali-Liston HW championships drew less than 12,000 people COMBINED then the bar isnt that high. So I can see that argument. By the end of the year though I dont think there is any argument that Ali was the bigger draw. In a bout that was horribly promoted He drew about the same amount against Chuvalo as Patterson-Johannson 3 did.

I don't mind going against him at all if there's a valid reason. He's not one of my favorite fighters. Not even close in fact.
I just don't like to let people run somebody down with inaccurate information without calling them on it. I'd take up for any fighter I felt was being misrepresented unfairly.

blowing your big horn on how inferior muhammad ali

i have another idea for a
