People asking will I be fighting mitchell before Xmas I doubt it will happen as my trainer wants me to rest and let my body have a rest but if it was for a offer I couldn't refuse and guaranteed bigger things after it I couldn't see us refusing it , plus if I asked for Mitchell 2/3 years ago would of give me the opportunity .

I would have to agree with your team derry and anyone who questions that is being unrealistic I have no doubt that you would take the fight however your body must need the rest due to the efforts you put in you deserve a decent rest to be fresh for 2014

Are you not interested in this fight Derry?

I would love the fight but it's got to be worth a good offer with options for better things after it etc

Yes beating Kevin should open doors for bigger things but I need it on paper

Derry, the Mitchell fight would be to a big of a risk for such a small return mate IMO. Can't u try and move onto European?

I know fighters have to treat there careers carefully as setbacks can mean a great deal of inactivity & zilch exposure straight away.
Kevin Mitchell has been spanked each time he's stepped to the plate & is just outside world level & a gateholder for people to progress into the frame of bigger fights.
I don't know what Derry normally gets paid or what he would get paid against Mitchell. But it seems a great oppurtunity to get mentioned in the same breath as ricky burns & would make Derry much more marketable for such a bout.

Emiliano Marsili is probably not far away from a retirement world title fight I doubt he'll be looking to defend again beyond his next fight.

I hope you get the Mitchell fight , would love to see you beat him ... since your comeback you have won me over and its an honour to see you fight... one thing i do want to clarify, what is the situation with Richard Commey. Is he not your mandatory for your belt?

He can't have much of a promoter.

Richard Commney would give either Derry or Kevin a real good test, that lad can punch a bit and is very strong.
Derry may just vacate and fight Kevin which is a bigger and better fight domestically

Did you not say on another thread that Commney would beat them both as you have seen him in your gym? I prefer Derry v Commney anyway that would be a tear up that I would fancy Derry to win!! As for Mitchell I think he may just be a level above but Derry has proven me wrong before!!

Yes he's next so his manager better get his hands in his pockets and make it happen

I think I saw you say something about 6 big fights left Derry is that hopefully ending with a world title shot?

Why don't Sky ever mention Terry Flannigan when creaming over the Lightweight division?
