Peter Fury says Tony Thompson turned down an offer of 75K to fight Hughie and they are also trying to match him with Sprott and Skelton what about John McDermott?

Hughie has potential but isn't ready for Mcdermott yet mind you as John only fights about once every two years by the time he gets off his arse hughie will have improved significantly.

The regular sparring with Tyson will do him the world of good and there's all the sparring partners brought in for Tyson that he has access to, plus he's fighting next Sunday and at the start of next month on the Lee Haskins-Jason Booth undercard. The sparring and regular fights will see him improve quicker than most other fighters.

yes it should but his defence looks vulnerable every time he fights.

I listed this match on the domestic fights I'd like to see topic yesterday.

Hughie is a throwback, I really like the kid. He looks the part, has killer's eyes, and is developing all the time.

Fighting JMc would be a jump from Dorian Darch but there's no harm in pushing the envelope. Even if Hughie picked up a loss or two along the way, it'd not necessarily be a big deal.

I'd doubt it would help his cause if he got flattened in one ala War Machine

A loss would be terrible for Hughies ambition to be the youngest Heavyweight Champion.

I really think Hughie has some potential but too much pressure is being put on him, he still is a teenager and his Dad should slow down and
let him develop.

By saying I mentioned this match yesterday I was lending my support to your question and reaffirming my position on it. Nothing more.

Big John is a big step up. I would leave him be for a while. Tom Dallas would be nice.

Making these offers to guys like Thompson etc is just posturing. At the end of the day Hughie at this stage is fighting 6 rounders and has never been past that. He is not gonna be thrown straight into a fight with a guy as seasoned as Thompson or even McDermott and Sprott who have all gone 10 and 12 rounds loads of times.

Once Fury has fought a few guys just beneath McDermott, Skelton and Sprott's kinda level then lets say he is seriously going to face those guys.

There's no rankings at domestic level and he isn't ready for titles anyway, he should be in with fighters that will give him rounds so he can learn.

I dont believe this for one second, this is the same as them saying no one would fight fury when price was calling him out, and FM saying everyone was turning down price. If you pick people who dont have scheduling conflicts and offer them a valid period in which to train then people will be all to happy to fight a prospect. Also is 75k alot of money for Thompson I expect he is picking up alot more per fight at the mo.

McD is a step too far at the mo and mike tyson fought tomato cans for a good 20 odd fights from what I remember.

McDermott stops him at this point, no doubt about it.
