Imagine how much better these guys would be if they had access to today's training and nutrition techniques?

I'm not saying they would be bigger but they would be healthier and more durable.

Cooper-Patterson 1966----my favorite Floyd fight!

He put Cooper away CLEANLY, unlike the "G.O.A.T." ( ) who had two shots at accomplishing the same.

I love the bobbing-weaving, swarming style, but I always liked Floyd's style, too. On the toes, probing for an opening, followed by those quick combos.

Ahh the good old days when Americans revitalised their careers by going overseas to knock out so called champions in Great Britain and Europe; sadly, today its the reverse order.

Was it really Il Duce? It wasn't was it.

Henry Cooper had three good reasons not to fight in USA. Pounds, Shillings and Pence. He could earn much more fighting at home, than in America.
He was accepted as a challenger to Floyd Patterson, but after beating London for the British and Empire Title, Cooper wanted his purse rised, and was dumped in favour of Brian London.
In his book Ingemar Johansson also has a chapter called: "Don´t talk American Boxing Gold to me". As he tells - He has not got a manager taking 33-50% of his purse, he had a friend and adviser who he paid 10%!!!
That is why Eddie Machens manager thought he had a return bout contract - What an idiot! He forced Edwin Alquist into signing a contract that was totally worthles. Alquist could not sign a thing that was legal conserning Ingemar.

gotten the Decision over Zora Folley.

The Associated Press had it {5-5-0 in Rounds}, but voted in favor of Zora Folley, as he scored the
only 'knockdown' in the bout.

And of the 10,000 fans at the Empire Pool, many boo'd the Decision that was awarded to their countryman.

Bill Swift, "Had this bout been held on 'Neutral Ground', Zora would have been awarded 7-Rounds."

I don't take it personally Il Duce, I'm a very rounded and even tempered human being, if I do say so myself.

My Dad was there, and he is no apologist for Cooper, he thought Henry edged it. If the associated press had it 5-5, that would indicate that it was probably not "one of the worst decisions ever", wouldn't you say so old chap?

Cooper did not go to a coner to take the 8 count. He rose at "Three" and you can actually hear the timekeeper saying "Four" as the referee signals to box on.
Of course you know that there were no mandatory-eight-count at that time in Britain.
By the way that would have been a huge problem for a young Cassius Clay who got up to early against Cooper and undoubtly expected a mandatory-eight-count before continuing - He was saved by the bell just as he arose.

How about a 'highly debatable' Decision win, that was quickly awarded to Henry Cooper
by Referee - Tommy Little the moment that the bout ended.

The 'Decision' was not overwhelming received by the British fans. Though there were
cheers, there were also many boo's heard from the 10,000 Brits.

With regards to Patterson, Cooper said that he'd been hit harder but never fought anyone with Patterson's hand speed.
