When discussing whether Froch v Groves was PPV worthy Eddie Hearn stated that it only would be with a stacked monster undercard. Im a massive Hearn fan but I honestly cant see how he is going to do this apart from his prospects appearing on the bill.

So far we have confirmed:

Froch v Groves - Good fight probably 70/30 in Carls favour, not PPV worthy on its own in my opinion
Crolla v TBA - Probably an international contest but would like Terry Flanigan
Quigg - Was mentioned post fight he would be on the bill,

Apart from that Matchroom have

Kell Brook - Fights later this month so wont happen
Tony Bellew - WBC title shot a week after
Darren Barker - Felix Sturm Dec 7th
Lee Selby - Eddie stated he needs a rest so don't think we will see him until 2014
Ricky Burns - Wont be ready until 2014
Brian Rose - Fights in Sheffield on the Kell Brook bill so if does appear wont be a meaningful fight
Gavin Rees - Faces Tommy Coyle November 2nd
Kevin Mitchell - Looks like he is chasing Derry Mathews but wont happen until December earliest


After all these appear to be out of the running looks like we will see a mixture of prospects and fighters not currently at British Title level ie Fielding, Stalker, Callum Smith, Campbell, Joshua, Cardle etc.

Im not saying that there wont be plenty of talent on show but there will be lack of quality 50/50 fights imo. Thoughts??

Crolla v Geithin or any lightweight in Britain is fairly 50/50
Quigg is in a world title fight could be 50/50
Froch v Groves is a fantastic fight.

Joshua and Campbell will be on the card, maybe Yafai wouldn't be a bad bill. Haye v Fury was pathetic.

Not saying Crolla and Quigg fights won't be any good just with Eddie saying it would be a stacked card I was maybe expecting more. I am definitely pro matchroom as well!!

He fights on Kell Brook bill and if he comes through that ok then he could be on Froch v Groves. I think the smaller weights might start to get more recognition now the Butler, Yafai and Selby triangle (If he turns pro) really interests me.

yeah i have liked yafai for a while now looks really good ... hope he gets through the brook card ... talking quickly of selby you know whats happening with Mouneimne he beat selby and i think he might have beaten him to in the amateurs seems as though he really under the radar?

They were obviously setting up a Burns defence as the chief support.

Most of those are close to 50/50. That's not bad when you include Luke Campbell, Anthony Joshua, Kal Yafai possibly Callum Smith. That's the 02 bill on Saturday plus Froch/Groves. I'd be happy with that

Most PPVs sell themselves just based on the main event and a good card is just a nice bonus. 99% of people pay for the main event, and probably couldn't care less about any of the other fighters. Sad, but it's just how it is.

Wouldn't totally agree mate.

Certainly the casual fan will prob only order for and actually watch the headliners.

Us "serious" fans (couldn't think of a less wanky phrase!!) normally want some depth in the card and value for money

True. I'm going with 4 other lads and I know I'll be the only one bothered about a Quigg/Crolla/Fielding fight. Most people will actually want to see Froch Groves and then the Olympians over the quality British/Euro/World fighters we have. It isn't great that Campbell and Joshua are bigger names for the public than Barker, Burns and Mcdonnell.

He'd have to get a lot of non-Matchroom boxers on this card to make it 'Monster'.

Can't really think who he'd get on it to make it worthwhile, but hopefully he comes up trumps. In Eddie we trust.

I agree with you mate, I'd love a quality/stacked undercard. I just mean that the PPVs are normally aimed at the "johnny-come-lately" fans who buy into the big fight. There aren't enough people like us to make it worthwhile. It's the Sun and Nuts readers that make the PPVs work. Sad, but true.

That's what I hate about fighters who win Olympic medals then turn over, the hype is unbearable. Khan was bad, the Beijing lot were ok, but everyone from 2012 I wouldn't be bothered to see them fail, people got way too hyped up about the Olympics and it seems to be continuing.
