Notice he would like to vacate after his next British Title defense, providing he wins,
is he comfortably better than Ndiaye and Rebrasse at European level ?
if this is the route he takes?

He seems to believe that he deserves a world title shot. Not entirely sure how exactly..

Yes i see he fancies the WBO, he was angling for that before degale comfortably beat him,

I like smith but talking of relinquishing to fight for world honours is a joke!
He's been stopped twice by fighters who ain't even that far up the que themselfs remembering groves became mandatory by default.
I look at smiths reighn & he's only really fought Dodson & quigley once. You look at jamie Moore & his defences he beat everyone & was the country's best. Smiths domestic rivals ain't stacked but he needs to take his time. He could challenge ousthizen for the ibo & that would put him right up there rather then offer himself up to Stieglitz in Germany were he'd have to stop him to win & stiegliz is proven & improved at this level now

I feel sorry for Moore. If there ever was someone who got themselves in a position to fight for a world title whether win or loss it was him. Just shows the power of a promoter in that situation.

Yeah defo agree with you about moore. If hearn promoted him he would have defo won a version of the world title. His career stalled afte r the macklin fight when he was in his prime. As far as smith goes he needs to win the European titile and defend it at least once if not twice before he starts talking about world title fights. Bottomnline is the guy has had over 30 fights and hes still at domestic level. He still has a lot to prove imo.

Hearn did promote him, right at the time he got beaten in Belfast when he shouldn't have been in the ring

Successfully defend against Brian Magee and then possibly, maybe, talk about being a voluntary for world guys.
I still do believe that Smith can mix it with the likes of Barker, Macklin and Murray.... but just don't think he has the strength at Super Middle.

I actually thought he was referring to the OP about Mohammad Ali Ndiaye, who Groves pulled out of a European showdown with when he left Wazza, dont know if Degale pulled out of a fight with him though
I may be wrong though,my computers been away getting fixed last few days,my sarcasim barometer may still be down :P

A fight with Billy Jo Saunders at Middle or Frank Buglioni at Super Middle could both be made fairly easily. Two good crossroads fights for Smith if he's brave enough to take either.

If he cant beat Buglioni he should just retire I think. Buglioni to me is a domestic level fighter at best.

Smith is a 12st fighter. The fight with Billy Joe is a non-starter. He'd absolutely blitz Buglioni

Saunders will be stepping up eventually & if he decided to & wanted it frank makes it for him like he did chunky.
Buglion is wide open for big punches but is a very big & strong 12st lad. He could prove a handful for smith.
Chris why is knowbody interested in seeing Paul in decent British title fights?

Blackledge is a decent fight and ten times harder than Buglioni would be.

It sounds like he's saying DeGail and Groves was scared to fight Smith abd they would've had a hard night? None of which is true...

I'd love to see Smith have another go at Degale. I know he got his backside handed to him in the first fight, but I have a feeling he'd have a lot more success in a rematch, and I suspect he'd prepare properly given the opportunity. I don't think Degale's impressive win (probably the best we've seen him) was purely down to speed, of which he will still be far superior.
There would be nothing in it for Degale though, so I guess it's a complete non-starter.

No it was probably better boxing ability, a longer reach, a naturally bigger man, etc.

You would hope so !
Does he keep the belt after his next defence ? - if so, he is only vacating to make room for his brother.
Any talk about moving up to Wold level is just fantasy.

Dont see Smith in the same light as some of the most recent posts. When was the last time he produced a performance that tells us he's anything more than a good domestic fighter ?
