x2 to all the above. My sister is gay and the amount of personal stuff she's had to work through due to fear of bad attitudes is awful. Cruz is brave and I wish him all the best.

In this part of the world I see it more as people repressing their sexuality as being cowards rather than people who are open about it being brave.

Yeah the comments on here show you just how brave he is to come out, he's an easy target to be mocked and laughed at...and there will be a lot of hate heading his way too.
There's hardly anyone in sports who will come out and admit they aren't straight - not even tennis! - let alone the ultimate macho sport: boxing.

I've got full respect for Orlando Cruz.
