dont call it a comeback!!

hi fellas im back in the ring on the big show in hull with luke Campbell on November 2nd, its been really tough for me after my last fight against derry and took me a while to get over the pain of such a defeat but im back in full training and looking forward to getting it out of my system, ill be coming back at light welter and hoping to get a few wins under my belt and trying to get back in the mix, im also on dave coldwells show in Sheffield on December the 13th, never been one to bitch about losses but the fight against derry I just didn't do myself justice and that is a bitter pill to swallow, got hit with a good shot and just couldn't recover but I felt like I had so much more to give that night but one shot can change it all, but I have to move on now and luckily for me ive been kept busy and im grateful to my promoter dave for that, sometimes after a loss you get left on the shelf but daves got me out and fighting again which is really good, anyway folks thanks for all the support over the years its very appreciated, im chuffed with what ive already achieved but I need to win that british title so I can call it mission accomplished, it wont be easy but I still believe so ill carry on until the belief or the fire has gone

I,m rooting for you all the way Curtis and i still think you can do it mate,i know its a lot easier said than done, epecially from people like me who have never had a competitive boxing match in my life but getting beat in a Commonwealth title fight isnt that bad, maybe you did get stopped but you didnt quit and you were still willing to fight, youve stopped your fair share of people yourself its boxing,it happens,if you did quit then MAYBE that would linger in the memory but you gave it your all on the night mate and you can get a shot at Darren Hamilton(British) or Willie Limond(Commonwealth) if you knuckle down i reckon
Woodhouse v Limond is a fight i would love to see

thanks pal, not gunna lie the loss really hit my confidence but after speaking to a few people ive realised that it happens and you have 2 choices, either get over it or walk away and I still have the desire to climb the mountain so ive gotta get over it, would like a crack at limond or Hamilton but ill have to beat a couple of good kids first then lets see what comes up

Yeah thats the spirit mate, just look at that Orlando Salido,he,s got multiple losses on his record but he still plugging away and has another shot this weekend at a world title
Because you havent got too many miles on the clock(although you do love a tear up :) ) can you see yourself fighting until your 40 providing you skills dont diminish too rapidly?

yea defo im still fresh and still learning and sometimes im too hard on myself, if the body still lets me I cant see any reason why im not fighting at 40, most of the time the mind gives up well before your body

Your still near the start of your career mate, only 25 fights! still have loads left to give mate.
Are you staying at lw or is that just for your next fight?
Surely singleton has gotta give u a rematch?? That was robbery!

I just think you needed a big fight before jumping in with Derry. A 6 rounder against a journeyman is no preperation.

I maybe did need a few more fights at lightweight but it got offered and in this game it might never come again so I just couldn't say no, my next fight is at 10st6lbs and then the one in December will be at 10st, I wont be going back to lightweight, the lure of big names and big fights made me want to go down to 9st9lbs even though everybody around me told me it was a mistake I thought id be fine but I was wrong, no excuses at all derry beat the best possible me at lightweight but im stronger at light welter and at 33 dragging myself down to 9st9 hurt me more than I expected, I could dish it out at lightweight but didn't feel at all sturdy when I was taking it back

Hopefully you can fight Tyrone Nurse down the line ( I remember the banter you had with his dad on here a few months back :-) )
Had a photo with you at the Hull show in July good luck in your comeback fight.

I actually thought you were getting right into the fight against Derry and he was starting to look uncomfortable in there. It was just bubbling up nicely. Course its boxing and one shot can and often does change everything. But nothing to be ashamed of, just one of those things. Continue to chase your dream, a British championship is within your reach if given the right opportunity.

Light Welter gives you a better chance at a British title too.

Good luck Curtis. Look around at the people you have been in with and the way everybody knows you. Its a testament to you mate. I have loved watching your journey, and if you every get that title i know me and many others will take the roof of. If it all ended here mate you should be proud of yourself, so go on with absolutely nothing to lose. Enjoy it.

Curtis, As you may remember i was one who used to criticise you at first due to all the the ex footballer trying to do boxing etc etc , and as i knew Karl Chiverton, who wanted to fight you at the time (Incidently Karl had his Comeback fight this morning in Australia, won by 3rd rd KO) . But since those days youve done everything possible for me to like you as a Boxer and a person and are one of the guys i always like to see do well.
You proved you wasnt just a Footballer giving it a go, Your a Boxer who also happens to be fairly descent at Football .

Good luck mate
just need to look at my Bros career and see you can achieve with set backs when fighting for titles and messing about different weights,
Granted he had an extensive amateur background so didnt make it as difficult for himself as you mate ha ha
