Both at there peak, Frazier was a monster, Louis was an assassin.
If Galento had Joe on the floor, Frazier presumably could. Louis hits as hard as Foreman.
I think it's an intriguing fight, that could genuinely go either way. What do you chaps think?

Duno. I do know Louis said he didn't like to be crowded when asked about his loss to Marciano. He said a crowder like Marciano would have given him problems at any age.

It could definitely go either way.
I take Frazier to break Louis down with pressure.
The early rounds are Frazier's danger zone, but once he gets inside consistently and really starts working it would go his way.
I suspect mine will be the minority viewpoint.

That's reasonable. I think prime Louis vs prime Frazier, Marciano, Holyfield and Tyson would all be very close fights.

No fighter likes to be crowded.
Louis by TKO. You don't come right at Louis and survive. Too much hand-speed with power in the combinations, and most importantly, too many uppercuts.

So you're calling it for Frazier, but you are also saying "you don't come right at Louis and survive"?

I'm torn on this one. I'm not at all sure that Joe hits as hard as Foreman.
And I'm confused by some of the answers thus far.
However if Louis=Foreman for power is the assumption...I would go with Louis...because if you have Foreman's power, with Louis' fantastic fundamentals, How does Frazier do better against Louis than he does against Foreman? Does not work for me.
Also I'm waiting for Dempsey to clarify his thoughts.
My thoughts are that Louis does not have the power of Foreman, and crowding does not work for Louis, So Frazier is alive and kickin' in this scenario.
Like the FOTC I might not bet.....AND like the FOTC...I might suspect that Frazier's competitor will win....AND like the FOTC I would not be surprised if Frazier brought home the bacon. By way of a few KD's along the way....and a decision in his favor.
If I was forced to bet I'd bet on Louis and be fully prepared to fund the other side's winnings.

great and crazy matchup. kind of undecided trilogy
with knock downs on both sides.

Very close fight that could go either way. I don't think Frazier can stop Louis though, he never stopped anyone of that caliber. Although, granted not many people did. I think Louis could KO Frazier but is unlikely.
The thing about Louis was he was relentless, quick and threw combinations. He fought like a man much smaller, but with the power of big time HW.
I like Louis here but not by much.
I ran it through my sim just now and Louis won 53% of the time, for whatever that is worth :)

What's your sim based on mate? Is it something you created yourself?

It is, I've been working on it forever, like 5 or 6 years seriously and a decade or more half assed. Hoping to roll it all out as an online game sometime soonish (like before I die) and see how folks like it.
The way it would work is players would be managers and you would have to recruit fighters and manage their careers. Each fighter has a rating set for each season.
Which is the other problem, I have to rate about 10,000 fighters and I have maybe 75 done.

I think it's great that you've even started it mate. Good luck. If you need any testers, I'm your man.
There's a game that's not too dissimilar. You can manage all the best fighters from history.
I used to play something similar to this on Commodore Amiga
I used to change all the names to real current boxers.... David Jaco, Bobby Crabtree etc

I think Louis would stop Frazier around the 8th or 9th round in an awesome fight. Joe would control the first 2 rounds convincingly, but after that it would be an all out back and forth brawl. With each man being hurt and wobbled on more than a few occasions. I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple knockdowns from both fighters.

Whoops, that was a typo/brain spasm. Meant Louis by TKO.

Agreed, I can never get past Louis' short right hand scoring inside of Frazier's wider hook.

Frazier is tailor made for Louis. He’ll come right at him and Louis’s punches would be short and inside joes. Louis by stoppage.
