I think Taffy is suggesting the original post shouldn't be in the British Boxing part of the forum. Personally I've got no problem with it as I sometimes like to discuss overseas fighters, but can't face the madness of the general forum and would prefer to hear from those with more informed opinions.

True. If you morphed them altogether though it would be utter madness!

Was not impressed last night. Firtha is a brave guy, but he should of been taken out quicker.
Wilder was bad with the right hand, kept looping it instead of throwing it straight.
I think his handlers are waiting for a vacant title shot, no way does he beat Vlad or Vitali, going by last nights performance

You're right about them aiming for the vacant title, at least if you believe Richard Schaffer when he recently stated that he wants to match Wilder with Stiverne for the WBC title (assuming it becomes vacant), then match the winner against Wlad to determine an undisputed champion.

utter horse sh*t. If I was Wilder I wouldn't have taken that fight. I could only watch to 2:46 despite the video only running to 3:25 and the fight still going on. That's how I feel about that.....that said, the geezer had more fire in him that Big Aud.

Wilder is being brought along the old fashioned way. He'll be fighting a top five guy soon enough. He's just not being rushed. Look what happened to Price.

Im interested in the thread, but would never go into "general" where itd usually be found. Im in favour of International topics for british / irish fans to discuss, in moderation.

I got a friend on the inside at TopRank who told me some news down the grape vine that Wilder's people are pulling back on their man after that pitiful performance with Firtha---- so don't expect to see Wilder any time soon be challenging or facing the likes of Tony Thompson, Kubrat Pulev, or even Tyson Fury. I guess the rumors about Wilder getting dropped with a jab in Klitschko's camp are true; when you figure a guy like Firtha (who is tough but no world beater) was able to tag him and showed no fear and took Wilder four rounds.

Reliable source told me it will be rematch of Arreola and Stiverne for the WBC belt.

As outclassed as Firtha was,i reckon he set the tone on how to fight Wilder,just get right in his face and throw lots of leather,obviously a lot more clever than he did but the attitude was spot on,Deontay is clearly a lot less experienced working on the inside and Pulev would give him trouble i reckon,although in all honesty i think Wilder would stop him eventually too

I like Wilder actually,he could do great things and although the match making hasnt been great for an Olympian it shouldnt do him no harm really as long as he does have some serious opposition and tests before he fights a Klitschko

I know this is only sparring and its obviously bigger gloves and headguards but he still takes a couple of big rights off haye

Wilder is an enigma he has the power and speed to place him above all other top heavyweights but his defense is amateurish -weird considering he wwill be getting the best schooling. haye would beat him easily as would Wlad the others out there it would depend who connected first.
