Ive just been reading up on Nunn on Wiki and he will be released from prison in 2024 for buying $200 worth of coke which was worth $24,000 on the streets (1 kilo). At least he is in a minimum security prison which im guessing would given him plenty of 'freedom' rather than a top security hell hole where other inmates would want to have a pop at him.

I was just wondering really if there was any up to date info regarding Nunn, how he was getting on etc. Anyone know anything??

I wrote to him a few years back and got a reply. He was bitter about the length of his sentence relative to the crime. They hand out some very heavy sentences in the U.S.

Great fighter in his day.

Yup would have been out by now in the UK. They have over 2 million incarcerated it's a damming indictment of their society.

i'm glad i live in england rather than america i'd be serving a 25 stretch there .... anyways nunn was stupid but 22 years for a bag of coke that's a lot . nunn was the president of the who needs him club

That is just not possible; either to buy $200 worth that would make $24,000 or to buy a kilo for $200; they proper screw people over drugs in the US, rank hypocrisy and it's pretty much a class war - a powerful class punishing people for doing the same things that they themselves do.

Still say one of the biggest upsets ever on these shores was Nunn losing to Steve Little.

He was subject to a higher sentencing because it was ruled that he had a gun during this "trafficking" time.

The whole thing was essentially entrapment, but he pleaded guilty to the possession charge.

$200 for a kilo of coke, you'd have to think that was too good to be true? Not that means 24 years is the price you pay.

Anyone can get a gun in America, so how could he be punished for having one? The stupidity in the American justice system is shown when they give 500 year sentences, just call it life for gods sake.

You can own a gun, but your not allowed to carry it on you.

Depends what you "want" it for.

I think the original [second] amendment to the constitution has them for home defence, which is a fairly shaky proposition if you're not at home, or doing a drug deal in your car.

Of course, it also makes a number of assumptions - Who's to say that Nunn legally owned the firearm in the first place.

If you speak to him he would tell you that the people that testified against him were all convicted felons who had received reductions to their sentences in response to agreeing to testify, so it clearly looks like a stitch-up.

Will Reggie Gross ever get out; there's info on wikipedia that says he's eligible for parole in 2009 but I'm sure I read he was banged away for ever.

This just makes no sense at all. How can you buy $200 worth of coke that is worth $24,000, please can you clarify what he actually bought?

If he bought a kilo of coke then that is possession with intent to supply and they don't piss about in USA with Class A's so I guess, harsh as the sentence is, you reap what you sow.

Most sane people wouldn't go near a kilo of coke though.

You'd have to be an absolute idiot to own a gun illegally in America, they more or less let you have what you want.

Actually, the rules are very different state to state. In lots of places you can "carry concealed", which is to say not only carry it on you, but have it hidden do that nobody is aware you have it. All the detail is here, for anyone wondering where the highest nutter-count might be:

No, if you look at the reports, he bought 2.2lbs, which is a kilo in anyone's book.
