Noticed this is on the schedule for December. Joshua's next 2 opponents still to be confirmed.

Thoughts?

Didn't Hughie Fury beat him on points in a six rounder (all rounds)

Yeah, and Lewison last year I think?

He's fairly durable, two fights before this one. Decent enough opponent at this stage.

Good opponent who seems to be going down the get knocked over for cash route. I expect Joshua to knock him out and look a lot more impressive than Fury did.

Agree. I was going to say I feel like Joshua is going to confirm his vast superiority over Fury by beating every yardstick fighter more impressively, but everyone on Fury's record so far would be a step down from Joshua's next fight.

on a separate note, it's pretty amazing to me that Fury has fought 11 times this year.

It's also interesting that on Fury's bum of the month tour he's been extended by a few. Don't think he hits hard at all.

May be missing something but isn't this for the December card - so it will be his 5th fight then?

Prizefighter an Froch undercard are still in works?

Correct! Well spotted. In that case it’s a crap fight!

Fully agree with this assesment of Hughie. He's going to find his level very soon and IMO its not going to be at World level. He's mobile and busy and I know he's young but he just can't dominate and hurt any live opponent, whereas Joshua looks like he can close the show when needed against anyone at that level.

It's about time Team Fury became more concerned with developing Hughie as a boxer rather than a fast accumulator of victories. He needs to get off the treadmill and start making his way in the mean streets of boxing. Or something like that.

This. I'm sure most seasoned pro's would say that he should be learning in the gym as much as the ring right now.

Not that he isn't in the gym, just that his power might improve over a dedicated training camp to face someone a bit more live.

Racking up 20 wins smacks of lining him up to be big money cannon fodder for a top level fighter before he's ready.

Why are people insulting Hughie's power?

He's not a big hitter. Who claims that he is?

the Fury's probably.
The point about Hughie's power is that you really need big power if you are going to rule the heavyweight division as he claims he aims to. secondly whatever power he has we won't see its full extent for several years yet as he has not matured fully which is one of several reasons why i have said he has beem pushed too early.

we had the same excuses about Tyson

'oh hes just a baby, he'll mature .... etc'

well Tyson isn't going to mature into anything having one fight a year.

but hughie wont learn a damn thing even if he fights 12 imports a year....the latest bloke even ive never heard of...its a joke

the fury's cant win

Tyson isn't a banger and it hasn't hurt him. With Hughies accuracy fighters will be well busted up when they go into the later rounds. Hughie still isn't sitting down on his shots as much as he should, still ironing out amateur traits but he is benefitting from fighting regularly and getting the rounds in. I think he is a naturally bigger hitter than his cousin and am looking forward to when he steps up to the next level.

Pulev has managed to get to #2 in the heavyweight rankings without being able to crack an egg.

Whereas Price has devastating power and has been KOd by 42 year old Tony Thompson who Pulev then beat.

Being a big hitter isn't really crucial in elite level heavyweight boxing. As I think Wilder will find out very soon.

Accumulation punchers like Vitali with speed and skill (a bit like Hughie) can be very successful.

Pulev wins by the 'death by a 1000 cuts' route rather than one punch ko.

If you are KO artist, there will always be someone who can withstand your power, and then you are left with no plan b, no gas and up s**t creek without a paddle.

#justsaying :OhYes:

I agree that it's not necessary to be a big puncher however, if Hughie can't put away opponents at this level, the worry is he won't be able to keep people off him/keep them honest at a higher level.

Joshua is topping next week's Prizefighter bill. How about in one of his next couple of fights he takes on the winner? Any of those guys cause him problems at this stage?

and he should as he is 5 years older than hughie and an olympic gold medalist. that being said that is a solid opponent for a 3rd fight. he should beat him easily though, preferably by KO.

Probably been boxing as long as one another though.

Hughie already looks 35, what's to say he don't burn out early doors? Travellers tend to mature a lot earlier than most

I see Joshua is fighting that Argentinian lad Chisora fought earlier this year, that's quite a step.

He's being moved along nicely.
