Rich kid who had it handed to him on a silver spoon. Not that he's the first or last to ever have that though.

True, but the cockney accent masks it. Edward Hearn is , in my opinion, a bit of both.

Maybe I should have had an option of 'smug tosser'.
It is odd that a guy who was public school educated to my knowledge speaks the way he does. You'd think he'd be a bit more well spoken. Not posh as such but just a bit more polished.

He's walked into a successfull buisness built by his father & he's obviously a chip off the old block because he has took the boxing side to the next level unlike franks sons who don't have no appeal or charisma & it seems the old man is battling with boy Hearn.
Eddy loves the limelight, loves the sport & you can see he really enjoy what he does.

Eddie's had it easier that Frank's boy's though. Eddie was given an exclusive sky contract basically straight off the bat because of the work that his old mans company does with Sky with other sports. I saw an interview with George Warren the other day actually on matchroom and he seemed a top guy.

He obviously lives off his Dad's name, but he keeps his fighters happy and active and always does his best for them, but still judge him in 5 years at the moment you can't argue he is a good promoter.

Regardless of what education the fella had, he's got charisma and knows his boxing. Yes, he is backed by a powerful promotional company who have a history of putting on great boxing events, hence their deal with Sky.

I think he has proved himself to be more than a credit to his dad and has taken the opportunities given to him with both hands.

How long does it take before one is educated to your level of knowledge?

Why are you public school educated yourself and take issue with that inference?

I like Eddie and i think he,s doing a great job for his fighters and the viewers, although i agree withe PPV,s being a pain but their not as bad as they used to be and the Froch/Groves bill is shaping up nicely i think

Eddie has got charisma,he loves the sport and does seem to genuinely care about his stable and although i watch all things boxing i do prefer watching a Sky show, they have more of a big feel than an Allegedlly one, nothing wrong with Allege,i just prefer Sky,probably the production

One thing that doesnt sit too well with me is the tapping up of other promoters boxers but as im just a fan i dont really lose too much sleep i just want to see good fights and the next 2 months are looking rosy :bag:

You do have to love the way a certain rival promoter to Matchroom refers to Hearn as 'born with the silver spoon.'

Is he trying to convince us that his two kids were raised by wolves on the mean streets of the Bronx?

he is doing great to be honest and is bringing big time boxing back-- no more small shows with poor boxers on it

we have not had boxing as good in years

He's taken what he's been given and run with it. As someone previously mentioned, he's a chip off the old block. I really like what he's done and shaken it up a bit.

Yup, pretty much agree with this. He has had the opportunity to do it and he is making a good fist of it. Credit where it is due.

The bloke who owns Easyjet, Stelios, was the same. Millionaire Dad who gave him £5 million to start a business. Luxury, of course, but you gotta have some smarts and Eddie has that and his fighters are getting opportunities, earning some money and winning a few big fights.

Fair play, I say.

Will be interesting when they take away the big sky contract.

Don't think he really cares about the sport. Just a game. And money to him. Not like he needs to work.

I know some folk that went to schools that cost a lot more and speak the same if not worse.

Who has Eddie Hearn actually MADE?

IMO all he has done in the main is poach other promoters hard work and took them to the next level using daddy's money/sky contract/savvy for selling boxing to the TOWIE generation

Kell Brook is far more popular now than before. Callum Smith has been brought along very well - compare it to Buglioni. He has got Lee Purdy a European and World shot neither of which he deserves or would have gotten elsewhere. He has got Brian Rose a world title shot which is remarkable really.

That isn't an exhaustive list, just recent.

Plus he has only been a promoter for how long? Wait till 2015 and then people can say who has he MADE.

None of them he has MADE - He basically bought his stars and then put the gloss on them.

I'll admit he is good at making stars big names for the casuals but my point is he has basically just poached all his big names after hard working grafting promoters who haven't got daddy's money or big sky contract have worked hard to build up.

Who have matchroom as a promotional company built up from scratch in recent years?

Was Brian Rose a big name? Was Kell? You could say he has made them what they are.

He has a lot of young talent on his roster that he is building up, doesn't happen overnight. But you can clearly see he is building young fighters at the minute.

I'd see you having more of a point if he was strictly poaching and not building young boxers, but that isn't the case.

Who would you say is being matched better, Callum Smith or Frank Buglioni?
