Found this on another web-site, looks like Hatton maybe getting fustrated with not getting the big names.

We know how he feels.

British light welterweight star Ricky Hatton says he is frustrated waiting for the big fights to happen.
Hatton told BBC Radio Five Live the top names are running scared but is confident significant bouts are "just around the corner".

Many expected "The Hitman" to fight IBF interim champion Sharmba Mitchell on 5 June but negotiations stalled and an opponent is still to be announced.

"It's frustrating, but the big fights are on the horizon," said Hatton.

"The last person you want to fight as a big name is a young, unbeaten body puncher like me."

The 25-year-old also implored the public to be patient.

"When you fight the best the two promoters have got to sit down and discuss purses and whether the fight's going to be in Manchester or America.

"There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the public doesn't see - it's easier said than done.

"We tried to make the Mitchell match but after calling me out allegedly sat down with Mitchell's team and they asked for double the money he got for fighting Kostya Tszyu for the undisputed title.

"Arturo Gatti's someone I'd like to fight, but he's with [American TV network] HBO whereas I'm with Showtime.

"But I'm now ranked in the top three by all the world governing bodies and I'm pushing right up to that mandatory spot.



"It's clear I'm a boxing star in this country but the next move is to become a star worldwide.

"Frank must be sick to the back teeth of me saying 'come on, let's go to America and fight the best'.

"He says: 'Don't worry, be patient, you're only 25, you're still not at your peak, we're in no rush.' But I want to fight the best because I think I can beat them.

"But I'm not unduly worried - I'm 35 fights unbeaten and I've got to keep going forward."

Hatton stopped Denmark's Dennis Holbaek Pedersen in his last fight in April after highly-rated Brazilian Kelson Pinto pulled out at the last minute

Heard it all before, and even though I count myself a Hatton fan, I'm sick to my back teeth with hearing all the right noises but seeing no evidence of stepping up to the plate. The Mitchell fiasco was the final straw for me, as it appears clear that match could and should have been made.

Heard comments like that from Calzaghe 3/4 years ago. Boring boring boring....

And Deserter is spot on, that Mitchell fight looked there for the taking, Sky should make more of that, Mitchell's manager made Warren look like a knob on live television, Frankie back-pedalling quicker than a Wacko-Jacko moonwalk clearly had NO intention of making the fight whatsoever.

Dream on guys, Hatton isn't fighting any 50/50 fights for the forseeable future.

This in one nail in the coffin that may make me consider my Sky subscription in the future. We need to write to them to tell them they are being totally mugged off by Sports Network.

Boxingtalk are reporting Zab fights for the Interim WBO welter title soon, against Pineda.

That's gotta mean the WBO lightwelter title is soon to be vacant right?
Maybe that's something Cotto has an inside track on?

Which means no WBO title for Hatton, because Frank wouldn't let Ricky walk on the same side of the road as Cotto, let alone fight him.

This is the thing that would set alarm bells ringing for me if I was Ricky. There is a guy a few years in front of him - his own career is following a similar path.

Could Hatton really say

'I'm delighted that I'll be fighting another also-ran. Hopefully he will either be in his late thirties or be a fighter who has spent most of his career at lightweight. Ideally both.

It's all easy money for me and Frank, as the MEN Arena would sell out even if I was fighting Dave 'Boy' Green.

At the end of the fight I'll come up with some claptrap about Tszyu ducking me and that I'm looking for meaningful fights. Plus the bloke I just beat hadn't been stopped before. And you can only beat what's put in front of you.

It's far safer to be knocking over nobodies, because as you know, I'm very susceptible to cuts and Frank doesn't want to take a shotgun to his golden goose. If I face some slick fighter my career could be over.

And even I can't fill 20,000 seats with my Oasis covers act.'

Or should he stick with his usual mantra?

exactly take julio cesar chavez he was at his peak when he was 25 by the time he was 27, 28 he was a tad past it and he fights a similar way to what ricky does.

hatton's time is here and now not in 2 or 3 yrs bloody time with his style he should have been pushed forward ages ago.

I'm not sure that Chavez is a decent comparison. He was slightly past his best in his late 20's because he'd had some decent fights by then. If Hatton continues down this road he'll still be fresh in his early 30's because he's had very few ageing fights.

Not sure if it's as simple as that to be honest. It's not just the fights that age fighters its the hours of training and sparring in the gym. Also years of weight making can drain a fighter as well.

Also I pressume Hatton is making a lot of maoney pulling in the crowds at the MEN and fighting 'second division' fighters for want of a better term. Therefor he may run the risk of getting rich then lazy then fat and losing his hunger and fighting edge (like Hamed). Before getting his defining fight.

Well, it looks like Leijla is out of the running, he won last night but suffered two cuts which forced the fight to go to the score cards after 8 rounds.

Again another fight that ends with an injury for Leijla, however, this time he was well on top and I don't think he wanted out.
