Midlands prospects for this season....

The title said it all bit late but im putting them up anyway.

A list of what i think could be good prospects for this season.

My criteria is they have got to be under 10 fights and thats it

(you will see a fair few fighters who i probably know personally lol feel free to put your own top ten so we can get an idea of the talent we got coming thru)

No particular order

1. Kal Yafai (Brummie born unbeaten in 8 or 9 i think has just picked up midlands prospect of the year and with sky and matchroom backing could go all the way)

2) Sam Eggington ( The Savage a 20 year old from our gym already midlands and masters champion with only 8 fights under his belt got an english title eliminator vs dave ryan next)

3) Arfan Iqubal (Light heavy from clifton mitchels gym unbeaten in 7 i think heavy handed and skilled lad whos just about to get a chance on channel 5)

4) Tommy Ghent (welterweight from Paul goughs gym strog and exciting I think he will go far)

5) Liegh wood (talented and quick feather from nottingham not seen a lot of him but liked what i have seen)

6) Lee glover (feather from Errols johnsons stable that has good hands and crowd pleasing style)

7) Daryl babtist (welter from Carl greaves stable that iv heard good things about)

8) Nathen Reeve (agressive battler with just one loss in prizefighter)

9) Craig cunningham (southpaw with a stoppage win over the very tough gilson dejesus)

10) Tommy langford (As Frankie G reminded me trained by Tommy Chaney and stable mate and sparring partner to british champ great engine and dicipline)

I rate grant cunningham 8-0 nice stylish boxer at middle /super
Kyle spencer I think is 7-0 from coops camp has looked gud.
Your list is pretty much spot on.

I hope he's coming on, I haven't seen him since his first fight but his skills were excellent

My list is just an opinion and as i showed when i forgot Tommy L its far from complete or idiot proof.Put your own lists up it makes really good reading i find

Of those i do know Yafai and Leigh Wood are the stand outs. But then being from Nottingham maybe im a bit biased towards Leigh, especially as he has boxed for me before he turned pro.

Leigh wood has not fought anyone yet, his last opponent was just good matchmaking, check his record, not a big fan of white collar fighters turning pro, not many make it, a big difference in levels, though he has not lost yet, so we will see, I will guess he is a ticket seller, judging by his last opponent, so he can be put in with the right fighters.

Tommy Langford and Sam Eggington have really impressed me recently. They are improving fight by fight. Tommy is technically sound, boxes well behind his jab and has excellent footwork. Sam has excellent handspeed, workrate and stamina.

I hope Kal Yafai has an injury free season. He can go far!

He wasnt a white collar boxer, he just did a couple of fights before turning over and was a good amateur , was part of the GB squad and was a twice beaten aba semi finalist. yes he is descent with tickets but from your comment i can only assume all you have done is look at the record on here, maybe watch him and you might change your mind. his biggest issue is hes not with one of the big promoters, yet at least... also his last opponent was a very late replacement as he was meant to box for Midlands title vs Ashley Lane but lane pulled out.

I will be honest, I had never heard of him or seen before, but a lot of boxers have been built up as stars before they have fought anyone, now watching him on you tube as a pro and amateur, I have to say he has nice skills, good work rate and nice combos, he paws a bit too much with his jab and throws his right hand too frequently,which is what made him a good amateur, not sure about his power on the vids( though he has stoppages )but I have to say you have point, he could be the most skillful on the list and is one to watch and has a good trainer, maybe they could get him with Hennesey, like to see him in a 50/50 match up.
