Plenty of underserving fighters Rademacher, Marvis Frazier, Tim Tomashek etc...etc....If you want to spend enough time you can makes any fighters career sound average.BoxBuzz wrote:Was he as worthy of a shot as Ali was when Liston fought him? No.
Was he as worthy as about a dozen of Joe Louis's "bums"? Probably.
Terry Daniels and Ron Stander for instance.Controversial wrote:Plenty of underserving fighters Rademacher, Marvis Frazier, Tim Tomashek etc...etc....BoxBuzz wrote:Was he as worthy of a shot as Ali was when Liston fought him? No.

But you won't see a couple of posts from The Duchess denigrating their worth.
Why Yes....yes I can. Thanks for asking!Il Duce wrote:My Terry Daniels and Ron Stander beats your Jean-Pierre Coopman and Richard Dunn.
All '4' have many things in common.
Can you name '10' things in common between the men.
The build up was good too.broonel wrote:
Ali just played with Dunne for a few rounds with no real intent it was left to Bugner who for once in his life came out swinging and showed Dunne he was out of his depth !

Gave 100% against Muhammad Ali.
He fought with his heart, and put in his best effort to win.
A former 'Paratrooper' as well.
Bugner shook Joe to his boots at Earls Court in 1973. It was a very good performance by Joe B.broonel wrote:I never doubted Dunn s courage and most people would have agreed with his pre match comments on Bugner . Everyone knew Bugner was the better boxer , he did go 15 with Aii and Frazier (ok I don't think he hit either of them) but who else can say they did that ?
Before Bugner "shook Joe to his boots", Frazier had Bugner helpless in the corner in the 10th round with a big hook.evrenb wrote:Bugner shook Joe to his boots at Earls Court in 1973. Dunn was a good fighter with a not-so-great chin.

Yeah thats right. It was a decent fight and Bugner put up a good display. Frazier's chin was his weakest point and he didn't have many. . My third favourite fighter of all times.yancey wrote:Before Bugner "shook Joe to his boots", Frazier had Bugner helpless in the corner in the 10th round with a big hook.evrenb wrote:Bugner shook Joe to his boots at Earls Court in 1973. Bugner was doing some kind of Hungarian Two Step Twitch as he slowly fell.
If Frazier had a mind to, he could have ended things right then and there.
Too nice a guy was Joe + that joy of combat mentality had largely left him after he accomplished his real goal in '71.
Its been said he lost something after Regis died early in his career, it affected Bugner quite bad.yancey wrote:

I think he meant Frazier???Controversial wrote:Its been said he lost something after Regis died early in his career, it affected Bugner quite bad.yancey wrote:

Oh yeah, I thought the "combat mentality" line was odd when talking about Bugner :-)evrenb wrote:I think he meant Frazier???Controversial wrote:Its been said he lost something after Regis died early in his career, it affected Bugner quite bad.yancey wrote:

Meaning 1971's defeat of Ali.
